Has anyone come across one of these revolvers? I understand it will shoot .38 special, .357, and 9mm. I am wondering how a snub nose revolver will shoot accurately with a .355 projectile in a .357 sized barrel? Obviously I can size my 9mm lead to .358.

Being a snub nose revolver, should I assume there are low expectations on accuracy?

I was looking for a 9mm revolver to use during the Winter months so I didn't have to dig in the snow up here to retrieve my brass. ;)

I don't find where any of those guns has a .358 barrel. The bullet spec is either .355 for 9mm or .357 for the others. The number .358 comes into play with 38 Spl/357 Mag lead bullets.

I'm familiar with the gun from reading about it a few years ago but I'm not sure it ever made it into production. I've never seen one for sale, a range report, anything. You can check with the folks here - http://www.taurusarmed.net/forums/forum.php? - if anyone knows about them someone there will.
Taurus does still make the 905 9mm snubby and they are readily available. In my experience with Taurus, quality control can be sketchy, plenty of good guns but plenty of problem ones as well.

As far as accuracy, snub nose revolvers can be quite accurate, it doesn't require much barrel to stabilize a bullet and send it flying true. The problem a lot of folks have is with the short sight radius and small grips, they blame the gun for being inaccurate when it is their own lack of skill that is the culprit. Practice makes all guns more accurate.

Also, while the .002" difference between a .355 bullet and a .357 barrel sounds like it should be a big deal on paper, in my experience it isn't so in real life. I have a S&W 360J .38spl that has been rechambered to 9x23 and cut for moonclips. Shooting 115gr FMJ 9mm I have found no difference in accuracy when compared to how the gun shot with .38spl ammunition. I qualify with it on our duty weapon course of fire without any difficulty and have used it to win an IDPA BUG match.

That is a good testimony with qualifying with a 9mm snubbie and winning the IDPA BUG match. I do wonder if it is a model 905 like you say, the seller called it a model 85 and the triad 85b is the only variant that would handle 9mm from what I could find.

I was sent a picture of the gun, and while it didn't show the model number it did show the serial number. The model is actually a 905B2 chambered in 9mm. So it isn't a model 85 that can fire 9mm.

Still it is mildly interesting since is about 1/3 to 1/4 the cost of a Ruger speed six.

One thing about the Taurus 9mm is that it uses their "Stellar" moonclips, which are anything but. They are very flimsy and prone to bending. You can use the S&W 940 moonclips, which are more rugged, but you may need to modify the center slightly to fit.

I like my Taurus revolvers just fine, but I like my Smiths better.
