I have been looking into buying a Taurus PT-111 or a Pt-145. Does anyone have any reviews on them, before I buy? I have never fired a Taurus, but I like the price.

That is not a bad answer. But have you fired one, or know anyone who has? I want some info on them. Thank you.

I've owned two, each stainless. Minor issues with each. Model 431 served pretty well for fifteen years as a HD gun, but never shot all that accurately. Internal spring came loose once or twice, so I had to take it apart and reset it. Model 94 was supposed to be a target plinker. Looked and handled great, but shot for crap. Finally traded both away.

I suggest you do a search on the history of Taurus then make a decision. The quality has come up and I would use them for target practice but I would not carry one concealed.

I've been carrying one all week concealed and I've owned and fired it for a dozen years now. Mine's a Taurus M85SSUL. I also have a couple of 66s, .357 magnums, all very accurate. The 4" 66 is the most accurate medium frame .357 I've yet owned. It has embarrassed more'n a few Smiths at our club shoots. It shoots little 1" clusters in the black at 25 yards.

I am not that up on the autos, but you'll find lots of good info at taurusarmed.net, the site mentioned.

Smart remarks or not, it pays to do a little legwork on your own. Taurus products have been discussed quite thoroughly here, in all their forms, so there is plenty of info waiting for you already. Starting another thread without first searching not only wastes our time, but yours as well. Why bother asking a question, if you can take a few minutes and search to see if it's been asked already?

Please don't take it the wrong way, AR. We're not bad folks here, and we're happy to answer questions - it's just that if we're asked to answer them over and over again, it starts to get a bit frustrating.

I carry a PT145 and my wife carries a PT111. They are both Millennium Pro models, but hers has the stainless slide 'cause she found it prettier. We have owned them from over 2 years and have never had a FTF or FTE with either weapon. We shoot cheap Wally World WWB fmj and jhp. As well, I own a Taurus 44 revolver, PT945, and one of their new 1911's. Some people turn their nose at my choice of 1911, but it set me back no more than $600 OTD and I love the weapon.
Yes, Taurus had a horrible quality control problem in the past, but now I have no problem trusting my and my wife's lives to their product.

If you want to learn, as previously stated, there are tons of posts on Taurus quality here.

DO A SEARCH.

You will still be reading this time next week. When you get done, you will have all the opinions and all the info you need to make a decision.

I am just learning how to use this website, I am new to computers. I wasnt trying to bother anyone. Like I said I am just trying to learn about this gun. Not feel stupid. I dont make anyone answer my questions. Thank you all for your help.

I have had great service out of several Taurus pistols.

After I shoot and prove them to be reliable, why not carry them??
I have never had a real problem with a Taurus being reliable.

I have and do carry a Taurus. I would not carry a gun that I had any doubt about.

So, if a pistol is reliable at the range, why is it not ok to carry??

Do a search ...

... guys, on a forum that has been around as long as this one, any search on any reasonably popular topic is going to yield THOUSANDS of messages ... 99.9% of which won't be germane to what the searcher is looking for.

I'd wager that there isn't a single active thread topic on here that hasn't already been discussed in another earlier thread. (the 4 sale section perhaps being an exception) There simply isn't that much =new= with respect to firearms.

You learned everything you now know by asking questions, and you likely very rarely ever asked one that had never asked and answered before. How long would have you kept asking questions if every time you did the first 5 responses you got were "do a search"?

If you know the answer, or have something positive to contribute, you can probably do that in less time/keystrokes than the pompous "do a search" replies.

If you don't know the answer, or have something positive to contribute, then no reply is needed.

I agree with mgkdrgn. I am positive that everything that is asked has been already. We wouldn't have a much of a forum if EVERYBODY did a search; I am sure it is already been said once. (ESPECIALLY those stupid SHTF threads. The answer is always the same! What you are proficient at! Only thing is I don't see people saying do a search on those, they jump right in.)

dwave: I agree, in my daily routine I discuss the same topics several times a day with different people, why should this forum be any different? I like doing research and my favorite and most effective method is to ask questions of live people. In turn, I answer questions from people. I'm sorry to find that people on this forum don't want to be bothered.

I own and carry the PT145. All I can say is I really like it. I used to carry my 1911A1 but found that the PT145 will conceal better and it comes with the standard 10rd mag as compared to the 8rd. It has never failed me and for the price, it was one of my best purchases.

I have a Taurus revolver that it great, and I regularly shoot a buddies auto that is a Taurus and have not had any problems. In fact if he ever decides to sell it I am going to buy it.

Don't buy a Taurus unless it is used and you can fire about 100 rounds through it before buying.

My PT111 9mm is a POS. It will shoot about 30-40 rounds and then start stove piping like a mother. It also has light strikes on cheaper ammo that my XD does not. It shoots about 3 inches low as well. It looks and feels nice though.

On the flip side my buddy has a Taurus and his runs great. Anyways, you wanna buy mine? $250.

I have a PT-111. I sold my Kel-Tec P-11 for it. I like it a lot. Never had a problem with it. But from what I hear, mine is the exception not the rule

I bought a used 2nd Gen PT145 and carry it every time I leave the house. It has never jammed or misfired. I have put about 350 rnds through it since I bought it. It eats 230 FMJ,23o HP, 185 JHP and HP ..never misses a lick. Just my experience.

I have 2 taurus pistolas. A PT1911 and 608 revolver. Both are very accurate, both reliable*.

*The PT1911s only problem was the Ambi safety coming apart. I fixed that by putting on a wilson combat tactical non-ambi safety. I wasn't a fan of the ambi anyways. Great working pistol now with around 700 rounds through it. (I know because I reload and already ran through a box of 500 200gr. LSWCs plus the ammo I already payed for before getting the reloading equipment.)

I've read a lot of crap from Wilson/Kimber owners. The fact is Taurus IS THE COMPANY that all the rest are chasing at the moment. They sell out of stock faster than any other manufacturer. I've read more complaints on 1911's that were NOT Taurus brand.

All parts are inhouse and not outsourced like Springfield, Beretta, Les Baer.

I hear alot about whose magazine is best, the McCormick or S&W or Mag@#%@$ something? Personally I would NOT buy any magazine besides a Taurus made piece...

I've seen 38 spcl +P rounds fired through an old taurus 38 revolver that cleaned up like new. I've seen Colt Python 44 mags blown to bits on regular factory ammo.

don't let anyone sway ya, make your decision to buy that Taurus! The internet is full of bad opinions biased reviews. Chevy OR Ford?
