Taurus makes a good gun. It is just that their Customer Service is one of the absolute worst in any industry. So if you never have a problem you will be just fine. I have dealt with several gun manufacturers cutomer service departments. S&W goes out of their way to be the best. That's why my business goes to them. If for any reason I need their help, they are there for you.

I've never had a problem with any Taurus. All my experience is with models newer than say 2005. I'm thinking that back in the day they where much worse. Like say, no problems at all for mine.

I have four, various models and various ages, none have given me any problems, love them all, my advice is form your own opinion

when taurus came out with the tcp i bought one and liked it. bought a 709 slim, liked it. last week i bought a pt745.
i reload and have shot swc, fmj and jhp in all and when i get the load up where i want it they work great. no complaint here.

I love Taurus. I own 3 semi's and one older revolver; all are outstanding. I also own 1 Glock, 2 Rugers, 1 S&W, 1 Dan Wesson, 2 HK's and multiple misc handguns for comparison. Taurus Customer service was great the one time I needed them. I would (and will) absolutely buy another Tauri.

I have 2 taurus revolvers, a titanium 38 and the judge. no problems. The only problems I know about them are what I have read on the internet, if its on the internet its not always true. Also it not always first hand news, I've heard tell, a friend of a friend, my brother inlaws buddy, ect.

I had a Taurus .44 special for years and never had a problem with it. In the past year i've purchased two of their autos and love them. Maybe i've been lucky, but i've seldom had any problems with my guns over the years.

I've owned Taurus pistols and revolvers for over 25 years. 14 of them currently. NONE of them have given me any trouble.

S&W? A Model 625-3 failed on the first shot, broken hand. Time to repair? 6 weeks.

A Model 617 that locked up tight after 50 shots. Time to repair? 5 weeks, 4 days.

A Model 17 that also locked up after the ejector rod loosened. Time to repair? 3 weeks.

A Model 19 that refused to eject .357 shell casings after the first cylinder full. They had to be pushed out with a dowel. Cylinder charge holes needed to be reamed to size. Time to repair? 6 weeks.

I've also had to have Sigs, HKs, Colts, and SAs also repaired. Average time is 6 weeks.

Taurus suffers mostly at the hands of the Internet Commandos who have "heard" from a friend, or a gun shop employee, or read on the Internet how bad they are. :banghead:

I own Taurus Models 82 - a 4" revolver, and 850CIA - a 2" snubby similar to the SW 442/642 design. both in .38 special. They have both served well on the range. The Model 82, loaded with Ultramax 158 grain SWC's, was hitting the 10-x ring, right out of the box. I will be putting more ammo through the 850, (as SW642 folks say - 1000 rounds to settle down the trigger), and am still getting the alchemy of the 'right mix' between cartridge load/POI/POA, for that 'set it/forget it' mindset. I am recoil sensitive with age.

I own a Taurus first gen. Model 905IB 2" snubby in 9mm - with moonclips. (it looks like a Charter Arms Pug, in design.) The 905 was owned by a deceased former shop owner of coins and metals of reknown in the area. It performed well enough, on the range, to get me through my CHL class. When a knocking came on my door at some oh-dark-thrity, and attempting to load that miscreant clip into the 905, somehow it came to me to change designs. Hence, the 82 and 850.

The one and only Taurus I've owned/shot is a 44mag Tracker, SS, 4" barrel. It's only 5 months old and has caused me unending problems. It sits in the gun safe. At least it looks nice. End of my Taurus experience (and buying.)

I have owned two Taurus handguns, one turned out to be good, one turned out to be trouble. God help you if you have a problem with one. I'm not a Taurus hater, but I am also no longer a Taurus consumer. Just spend a little bit more and buy from a company that has a solid CS reputation.

I have one and love it (PT111). It has never given me a problem. I dont know why people dislike them. Their cousin's friend's sister's husband's uncle might have gotten a bad one and they feel they are all junk.

I have had good luck with Taurus Revolvers don't own any Taurus auto but my cousin has 4 Taurus auto i load for them & he has not had any jams or nothing to go wrong with them . i will prob. be hung out to dry for what i am about to post i don't care it the plain truth i bought a New S&W Performance Center 10.5" SS 500 Mag & it was nothing short of a pos i sent it back twice for the same reason it kept losing it timming & the yoke screws kept failing to the point wher that sent me a pack of them @ a time i paid $1,150 for it never will own another S&W again . I am paying on a new Taurus Raging Bull SS 8&3.8" can't wait to get it paid off i will take a Taurus over a S&W any day

I have a PT 111 and its been 100% reliable. I still love my glocks, but the little PT 111 is a fun little shooter and easy to conceal.
I cleaned it really good before taking it out to shoot. It came packed with a green gunk -so maybe that's what is giving people issues. IDK - I'm happy with mine. I would feel very comfortable buying a newer generation Taurus.

I've got several Taurus handguns and no complaints.
I will say Taurus has one of the worst customer service setups I've come across...still waiting for a grip screw I called twice on over a year ago.
The only worse customer service I've come across is Beretta which absolutely refused to fix a Tomcat with a broken frame with less than 200 rounds through it.

I've owned several Taurus firearms over the years and only had a problem with one, my PT840 which I purchased shortly after the 800 series was released. Shipped it back to Taurus on their dime, received it back approximately 4 weeks later and has been 100% since.

I've had 3 of them in the past 3 years. The PT 24/7 Pro Compact 9mm. was very reliable and I wish I had kept it. The Mod.65 Stainless 4" .357 mag. rev. trigger lock system malfunctioned even after I waited for over 2 months return time from CS. Traded it at a loss. The 8 shot Ultra Lite .22 mag. fired just fine, but I had problems removing the brass after firing. Finally sold it at a big loss. BUT....I know peolple who had problems with the PT 24/7 and people who praised the Mod. 65. I have a good friend who's owned the .357 Mod. 66 for 4 years with no problems and he loves it. It seems like a crap shoot imo.

Taurus? Maybe hit or miss. They look good, handle good, shoot good. The factory warranty is lifetime. Turnaround can be a week or six. Sometime they need to be told what needs to be done. MY pt-111 made one trip, came back in 12 days and has been flawless for 900 rounds. My 24/7 is surprisingly accurate and reliable from day one. My 1911 is just getting started with 40 rounds. They are trying hard to win the public trust and gaining acceptance. You can do worse easily.

I am the owner of of five Taurus revolvers and I've had no major problems
with any of them. I do not know anything about their customer service yet
because I have not needed it. I am especially fond of my Model 66 4"
(it is a tackdriver) and Raging Bull 6" .44 Magnum (a very solidly built
and reliable gun). For what I paid for my Taurus revolvers, I can honestly
say I have gotten my money's worth from them.
