Most of us here already have the essentials covered, we have what we need and some or most of what we really want. So with the tax refund season upon us and word that a "rebate" is coming our way in the summer, I'd just like to put foreward the idea that most of us would be better served by putting the money toward a class or two instead of buying more hardware.
If you're a CCW'er, take a handgun class that goes beyond the state minimum for training. A hunter should take a rifle or shotgun class geared toward that. Got a shotgun in the bedroom? There are HD classes that focus on use of the scattergun in close quarters.
If you're one of the "new guys" here and don't have the basic hardware covered, consider planning ahead and making that your next purchase, after you get the firearm you need this tax season.
Nothing wrong with buying new stuff, I just got a new rifle. But think about adding some "how to" along with the "what".
