lcp is smaller and a ruger, the pf9 is bigger and 9mm

does anyone have a kel-tec pf9 and if so is it worth it? thanks

You say Ruger like it's a good thing. And it's an apples and oranges comparison. If you were comparing the LCP to the P3AT, I'd say get the P3AT, and let everyone else de-bug the new Ruger for them. The PF9 is almost closer to the Ruger SR9.

I definately plan on picking up an LCP, I'm very excited about this new little Ruger! I plan on making it my new summer carry gun.

Nothing wrong with Kel Tec, but I'd rather have a Ruger personally..

Me, too. I really hope this Ruger is reliable. I had two P3ATs (1st and 2nd gen) and they were unreliable junk. And, I sent them back to Kel-Tec multiple times...still not reliable so I dumped them.

Same here with the pf-9 10 rounds and the piece that stops the hammer broke .sent it back and they just ground down the edges and said it wont hurt the gun. If it won't hurt the gun THEN WHY DID YOU INCORPARATE IT IN THE WEAPON. so I sold it back to the dealer NEVERAGAIN WITH KEL-JECT

My PF-9 has fired over 800 trouble free rounds and worked right out of the box with no modifications. I carry it every day in hot weather (with a P-3AT BUG). You could try a PF-9, and if you don't like it or it doesn't work, get the Ruger when it's available.

I got to play with the new Ruger at the Shot Show in Vegas when they first announced it. I will admit, I laughed. What a blatant rip-off of the P3AT. They changed the extractor and cleaned up the lower, but otherwise it looked, felt, and handled identical. That said, I did not get to take it apart so I do not know how similar the internals are.

I liked it and plan to buy one... in a year. Let them work the bugs out first. The Ruger Reps at the Shot Show didn't even know Ruger was making the gun. They knew there was going to be a "surprise" but that was it. They opened the boxes that Friday morning and saw the gun for the first time.

I think it is going to be great. But if they kept it that tight of a secret, it didn't get extensive testing. Give it some time. Then I will meet you at my local store to buy one.

Of course, maybe Kel-Tec did all the testing for them already:)

Gunflask, when you have a moment, checkout some of the posts at the PF9 link here:

I have had a P3-AT since December'05 and a PF9 since last summer.

I have, perhaps, a hundred rounds thru each and, so far, my only issues are with the plastic follower and maglock on the PF9. I "armored" the former with some metal but, for a satisfactory fix, the latter will probably need a metal replacement.

I carry the P3-AT in either a Polite Society ankle holster:

Or a slightly modified Uncle Mike's pocket holster:

I carry the PF9 in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster:

Since Ruger changed little in the dimensions of the LCP when they "borrowed" the design from Kel-Tec, I am sure that it would do just as well with both of my P3-AT holster solutions.

I have three P-3ATs and love them. All three P-3ATs are 100%.

I also have a PF9 and it's bigger than the P-3AT, but still carries well in some of my pants pockets and shoots the much more powerful cartridge.

I also have a PM9, that I prefer over the PF9 as a small pocketable 9mm.

i say ruger but the smallest gun i own is an Lframe snubnose 44spec (besides a naa 22lr which i see as more of a toy /conversation piece) i always look at the little guns then end up buying a big one
i was very close to putting my money down on a seecamp 380 2 summers ago but wound up walking out of the store with a glock 20 (full size 10mm)
i have several times considered getting an airweight 357 jframe but view it as inferior to my 44spec airweight (which i carry in back pocket no holster whatsoever) ive been thinking about a tiny pistol but cant make myself buy one
but on your subject with all the hype i dont think getting an lcp will be an easy thing for a while

I would get the Kel-Tec. If you want to be a beta tester have at it.
The PF9 seems to be pretty well debugged.
Everybody is all stoked up about a KT clone with 8 pound trigger? Have fun breaking in that little gem.

Bought the lcp a couple of weeks ago..for a small pocket auto it is very well made. Mine is the 2nd generation, so a problem with peening on the frame has been corrected. Put about 100 rounds of good old Winchester white box 95 FMJ's through it without a single failure of any kind. Accuracy for such a little thing was exceptional (once I figured out how to use the nearly non-existant sights:) But this is a pocket gun, and as such is meant to be used at distances where sights usually aren't that necessary. At the 10 yard line at the range, little Elsie put 4 magazines-full inside the "8" ring on an NRA 50 foot timed and rapid fire pistol target (4.5 inches) and the majority of those were in the black (3 inches). This was done with a standing offhand 2 hand grip. I don't think I could ask any more of the little girl. Just got my hands on some Gold Dots today, but couldn't get to the range. I'll let you know how they do...........
