Never give me an opening to tell one o' my jokes. I just can't pass it up.

Biker:)

The sad part is that because there is so much LE dishonesty about these incidents, that it is no longer possible to give them the benefit of the doubt,

BINGO!

But you'll give the media the benefit of the doubt when all they have to report is one side of the story - the family's and the gang's side?

But the reporter said the wife of the gang member said her husband the gang member was an angel. Oh, okay, right.

Anybody want to buy a bridge in Brooklyn? ;)

her husband the gang member

you mean wannabe gang member? :neener:

I ride a motorcycle, am an honorably discharged vet, and I have a knife in my pocket. I dont plan to let myself be executed for it.

That was a long article about a shooting that didnt actually include more than a couple of words about the actual shooting. I'm not going to come out on one side or the other until there is some kind of relevant information presented.

-Wether or not the Pagan was a scumbag has no relevence whatsoever, wether he was guilty of a crime doesnt matter either.

-The actions of other cops in other places has no bearing.

All that matters is exactly happened on that night in that place. What happened in those moments that preceded the shooting? That is the only information that matters, and the only information that is absent.

Agreed. About the only information so far is that there had been a drug, guns and dynamite bust at that residence 2 days earlier and the guy that was killed would not take his hands out of his pockets. Oh, and that he was the subject of an undercover investigation. That, and the Pagan's reputation as drug makers and dealers, and enforcers for the mob.

I know I would have been a little on edge if I'd been told to go pick this guy up. With my vivid imagination I would have suspected him of having a stick of dynamite in each pocket and avoided using the Taser. ;)

Lets see by the police's own account:

Unknown person is loading stuff in a car at a house they raided the day before. A house they already went through and found Cocaine 382 grams, Dynamite 5.5 sticks, and guns and cash. The next day Officers are observing unknown person loading car. Officers step out and fire taser at person hitting person. Person gibbers and trys to remove taser leads. Police tase person again. Person now jabbering incoherrently but not falling on ground. Third officer steps up and fires three .40 caliber rounds into person's chest. person dies.
They search person and find a pocket/swithcblade knfe and pepper spray.
For one day after police refuse to comment to local news, or even say if a weapon was found. Day two police say he had knife and pepper spray.'Police say he was a person of interest (like Robert Hatfield, and Richard Jewell, I really wish they would stop using this phrase, since folks are supposed to be presumed innocent till proven guilty). Police have not accused this person of any crime, nor have they mentioned anything illegal being loaded in the car or found on this person of interest, who is quite permanently dead. This is a matter of guilt by association and summary execution.

Two different eyewitnesses coroborate police story.
Hale, a member of the Pagans Motorcycle Club, was shot three times in the chest from a department-issued .40-caliber handgun after receiving two shocks from electronic Tasers, which caused him to "speak gibberish," witnesses said.

Two children -- ages 4 and 11 -- were sitting on the steps of the house, about three feet away, when gunfire erupted.

Reports on whether Hale was armed or threatened police have evolved.

Master Sgt. Steven Elliott, Wilmington police spokesman, said Tuesday that "there were two items there that were considered weapons, but I haven't been able to confirm whether they were law enforcement or belonged to the suspect."
Asked Tuesday if Hale -- whose hands police said were in his pockets -- ever threatened the officers, Elliott said: "In a sense, when he did not comply with their commands."Elliott said Wednesday a switch-blade knife and "suspected pepper spray derivative" were found in Hale's front pants pockets.

Elliott would not say whether charges were pending against Hale or why officers tried to arrest him.

"I would respectfully defer to the state police," he said.

State Police Superintendent Col. Thomas MacLeish did not return numerous calls or e-mails seeking comments for this article.

The search and subsequent shooting are part of a statewide crackdown Pagans say is targeting the club. Delaware State Police would not comment.

Public records filed with the court Wednesday show the reasons for the search warrant that preceded Hale's death.

Thats what we know.

I guess the reason I posted this is getting lost in the story. I posted it not because I have any particular need to exhonerate someone who is a criminal AFIK in this case a member of the Pagans maybe..

It is to point out the type of tactics being used by the police in my area to subdue a suspect who is an unknown a possible threat to their safety. Now if you figure that anyone is pretty much an unknown threat to the police and you can see that they are using SWAT type tactics...

Where exactly does that leave someone who is a CCW licensee that the police may try to apprehend for any reason, or say a known gun-nut???

The problem here is the PROPHALACTIC use of extreme force.

Remember the episode of Cops when they taze that big black gun in the car and he just pulls them out and drives off?

Yea you hear cops using tazers for whatever reason these days. I think they are going overboard with them.

People die from them, plus if your carrying a weapon and someone tried to taze you, they can take it.

Your right about the permit holder statement. There prob a few officers out there who would panic and use the good ole tazer on someone all because they are packing.

Regardless of who the person is, if someone is trying to taze me for no particular reason Id consider that a threat of serious bodily injury, and I would return fire at them if I was physically able to.
