Tell me about Mini Vault and Micro Vault

Looking for a way to secure my nightstand gun.

Will the Micro Vault hold a full size 1911 with tac light?

What other options are there out there besides the Micro and Mini vault?

Tell me about biometric vs. standard.

Yes it will hold a full size with light, but I prefer the end dropping down mini door to the top opening micro door. It makes access quicker in my experience. With the top opening, if it slips from your hand it closes hard enough to lock again so you'll have to reenter the code.

I haven't tried the biometric ones. The others are pretty fast and I didn't feel the need for the bio.

Another one I like is the top opening FAS1. It pops open and the gun is holstered ready to grab. You can get it with a tac light holster. It's made of thicker metal and is more expensive.

Here's a quick picture I took for you of a full size colt with a tac light in place as if it were on a rail. I don't have any railed 1911s (yet). You could also fit a couple spare mags in there.the Colt just got back from the range so it's a bit drty.

It mounts securely under my bed, is very nice for a 50 dollar safe. While I am certain a determined thief can defeat it in 15 minutes this is more for keeping my HD gun secured from my son.
