Seriously considering getting another PM9 blackened stainless tomorrow. Had a couple issues with the first two but I'm starting to think I was a bit hasty in selling them. Bottom line, reliable or not?

"go with a sub xd or a rami instead "

Don't know about the xd, but the RAMI is quite a bit heavier and thicker than the PM9. I have the CZ, and I love it. I'm still thinking of getting the PM9 just for the weight savings and the better concealability. I can shoot both for a little while and decide between the two.

I'm sure it wouldn't take me more than a year or two to figure it out. ;)

I have a Glock 26 and want to go lighter.

Don't care for the .40

You may or may not get reliability out of the box. Mine was reliable after break-in. If you're still having problems after that, I've heard Kahr's customer service is ver pro-active in satisfying their customers.

Mines been great. Although, I have not had a chance to shoot it much. 200 rounds on the first trip to the range - no failures, points real nice for me.

My PM-9 has been drop-dead reliable from the start. For a gun the size of a typical .380 auto, this 9mm loves +P ammo and can be counted on for reliability and shooting pleasure. Often rides with me in the pocket of my motorcycle jacket where I don't even notice that I'm carrying it. An enthusiastic "thumbs-up" on the Kahr PM-9! I would never consider a .380 auto when the PM-9 is available.

hmmm. kahr intentionally looks like a glock, but doesn't hold anywhere near as much, fits the hand poorly and they put out more than a few lemons. you need something lighter than a 26? both pistols are incredibly light. i say that if you're THAT concerned about weight, put less ammo in the magazine. heck if you squeeze crazy glue all over the slide rails, you might even get kahr reliability out of your glock. :neener:

chopinbloc... Glocks are ok if you don't mind the funky feeling trigger, uncomfortable feel in the hand, ugly looks and the bulky size. As for reliability, Glocks as with all brands have their lemons!

There are a great many folks much prefer the fine feel, superb trigger pull, finesse, size, and functionality of a Kahr. Kahrs cost a little more than other guns, but astute gun buyers recognize that quality costs a little more! Different strokes for different folks my friend... perhaps someday you'll get beyond yourself and discover that! :neener:

Love my PM9

I love my new PM9. I bought it strictly for summer carry. Had a few minor issues at first with it, but Kahr service was fantastic. Just the right weight for warm weather carry. It does not like manual racking, so just flip the lever and let it rack itself. Not as accurate as my Sig P239, but I didn't expect it to be since it's a much smaller gun. But I'd trust my life with it.
I really like the two different size mag that come with it.

Never had a failure in mine over 500 rnds.

If you get one, clean and "fluff and buff" the plastic areas to remove any burs. Hand cycle about 200 times and check/clean for any additional burs.

I think this has contributed to my pistols reliability.

I usually carry my PM9 as a BUG. I both practice with and carry Golden Sabers. When I first got the PM9, I was concerned because it was a little difficult to chamber the first round by pulling and releasing the slide, but it was not having any trouble feeding when firing. I assumed that after it was broken-in more, it would chamber the first round more easily. However, after several hundred rounds, the first round still chambers reluctantly, unless I just drop the slide on it, but every subsequent round feeds and fires without incident. I ran some S&B FMJ through it and it chambered the first round easily, so I chalked it up to the GS bullet shape. I find the PM9 very easy to shoot compared to a lightweight snubbie, and it is light enough to carry in a pocket holster (weighs about the same unloaded as a S&W 642). It is accurate enough at close distance and easy to reload, although I do not usually carry extra magazines when I am carrying the PM9 as a BUG.

My PM9 has been 100% reliable and rivals my G26 in accuracy, or Sig 239, G19, G17, and G34 for that matter. Great little guns and half the weight of the baby Glocks when both are loaded to full cpacity.

This is the second one I've purchased. The first was a gift to my brother. His has also been problem free. We both run 147gr JHP.

Me too.

My PM40 has been unreliable from day one. Sent the barrel back because something looks wrong inside. Kahr sent my barrel back in the same condition without any explanation. I am totally unimpressed with the pistol and the customer service. After 500 rounds I still can't get off more than two mags without having a failure to feed. The last 250 rounds was with a new spring designed to replace the weak original.

Mine took two trips back to the factory before it would reliably go fully into battery. Works great now though.

It is really is the smallest 9mm for carry other than the very expensive Rohrbaugh. It fits comfortably in a pocket holster (from a fellow THR member http://www.azraelscustomleather.com/)

I don't think I could comfortably carry a Glock 26/27 in a pocket holster althoughI haven't tried. If I want to go bigger I use a SIG P245 in a IWB holster.

I did have to send my PM-9 back to the factory for premature slide-lock. Since then it's been 100%. It's in my pocket right now.

OK, I'll tell you about it - it's a cheaper-meade, yet somehow much, much more expensive version of my MK9 - BOX. :) (I know, I know, it's lighter...)

I considered a PM-40 but in hindsight I am very glad I went with the PM-9, it's a much more shootable gun, more enjoyable and the effectiveness of 9mm +P is not significantly different than forty.

I think a MK-9 would be an awesome, if heavy, alternative indeed. Actually, at that point, a K-9 might just be the best choice.

I bought a used MK-9 for $300.00
OTD.It has some pits on the dust
cover and under the grips. It does
shoot well and prefers 9mm +P's
over standard pressure loads.I
would keep that PM-9 as long as
it becomes reliable.

Thumbs Up!

My PM9 has seen about 250 rounds so far and I couldn't be more pleased. Like others mentioned, it is reluctant to go into battery unless I use the slide lock to chamber a round. I have had zero failures and now carry the gun full time.

I have two of them. Both required break in and both have been 100% since with Cor Bon 115 +P's and Fed HS's. The first has several thousand rounds on it and the second is just over 2000. I change the recoil springs every 1000rd.

I like them well enough that I bought the second one to have broken in and on hand should something happen to the first.

They replaced a G27 and 2 J frame Smiths as my back up and off hours primary in the summer when clothes must be kept to a minimum.

I listened to the nay sayers for quite a while.... They were wrong.
