About two years ago, I was really new to owning a handgun. I had just bought a USP9...

Seeking affirmation on the wisdom of my totally "unsupervised" purchase, I happened to browse the net - and lurked - at the very first forum of any kind I have seen: the TFL. :D

I then made it a point to come visit it regularly, eventually joining it.

Hence, my alias then - and now...

Though I was a bit surprised that no one has yet adopted such a simple pen name... ;)

Same handle on TFL. I like to say it's because I'm one of legions of gun owners. Not very creative, though. When I signed on to TFL for the first time, I had just seen Gladiator.

Hauke Haien was a character in a novel I read in German Lit class. (Der Schimmelreiter.) I liked the name, no one ever takes it so I can use it anywhere, and I liked the novel too. Hauke Haien lived in northern Germany and was in charge of building and maintaining the dikes that kept the sea out. He built a new one that was too large, it failed and he was cursed to spend eternity riding his horse through Germany. Sometimes I fell like I've been cursed to spend eternity riding a computer ...

Mine was given to me by everyone. When the movie "Wayne's World" came out, everyone started yelling "Wayne's World, Wayne's World". I got tired of fighting it and used it to name batch file programs I wrote to fix all the problems with Windows 3.1, Shortened it to an 8 craracter DOS name. I called my batch file program waynzwld.bat. :D

I'm a "Romaphile" - Tiberius was the first of a string of famous "bad" emporers whose actions gave the whole imperial era an undeserved negative reputation. I wanted something not too obscure (cap't Kirks's middle name remember :)), so I just grabbed one and used it on several on-line fora.

When I first picked it, I had just finished re-watching the Masterpiece Theater mini-series "I Claudius" so so the Julian-Claudians where on my mind.

12 Volt Man
I am a huge Parrothead (Jimmy Buffett fan) and he has a song called 12 Volt Man. He told the story once that it was written about a guy who left the states for Mexico and lived in a place where all he had was 12 volt batterries to run his blender and cassette player. He made Margaritas and listened to Jimmy Buffett.
Any other Parrotheads here?

Mine comes from a combination of a nickname stemming from an encounter with a hive of angry yellowjackets I disturbed while investigating an inverse condemnation claim in Mississippi along with my location.

"Trapper Ready" is a phrase often uttered on the trap field at the start of a round, or when getting to a new station during sporting clays. I have an affinity for little orange puffs of dust, so it seemed appropriate.

BTW, I really, really hope that Art Eatman's name is just his name. If not, I don't want to hear the story.

I carry a .45 Bisley

There's an old story about a barber who asked an old prospector "Why do you carry a .45 Colt?" The reply was 'Cause Colt don't make a .46!'

Keith is my name. The "keithern" is a nickname I got in high school from my drinkin buddies because I sometimes acted like a heathen. And I live Tennessee hence the "TN"

Fly320s, winwun, Hi neighbors I work in Maryville near DENSO live in Knoxville. Any outdoor ranges in Maryville?

I'm not sure about Murville, but there are a few outdoor ranges in the area. There's Volunteer off Rifle Range Road in Ktown, a TWRA range in Norris, and the Oak Ridge Sportsman's Association range.

TABING
SAS slang for "tactically avoiding bullets",
picked it up flying these guys around the Dhofar region of Oman in the former Shah of Iran's helicopters in the 1970s when they were helping the Omani government put down communist terrorists infiltrating from the then "Peoples Republic of South Yemen".

Who is the Saint of Killers?

Everyone says its a little spooky for the web, I say deal with it, go down to yuor local comic book store and ask them guy behind the counter for the comic book "Preacher" within these pages of the most excellent comic book ever written is the Saint of Killers. He is pretty cool character in the comic book.

My grandmother called me a little devil, Mephisto. I went to ASU, Sun Devils. I am on my feet all day long so I bought the best shoes in the world, Mephisto. That is my story.

My first name is Sherman. I run a Macintosh consulting business. I becam,e known as the 'macman' which evolved into 'shermacman'.

This thread is waaaaaay too long . . .

But, for the record:

Henry Bowman is the principal character in John Ross' book "Unintended Consequences." The book didn't change my way of thinking; it changed what I do about it. Before reading that book, I didn't know that I was part of the "gun culture" and didn't even know about TFL (and then THR).

Soon after, I read Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged." All of the good names from that book were already taken and UC is gun-related anyway.

Who is John Galt?

When I went to school there was me:Tony Barbaro, and Tony Clement....I became TonyB....also Big Tony, but TonyB was my first try at a acreen name on TFL and it wasn't taken....
