Telling apart a USRAC Win 70 from a newer FN/S.C. Win 70

How do you tell them apart, whether being sold as used or "new"? Some of the "new" ones out there are still USRAC.

Is it a consensus that the FN/S.C. ones are better?

The old ones had "New Haven, Conn." on the barrel.

I am mostly interested in the Featherweights and for those, possibly others too, recoil pad is a dead giveaway, even in pics. USRAC have the red, FN are all black. At least the recent USRAC models which you may still encounter nib on the shelf.

From what I have learned the FN models are greatness, but all Model 70s are imo. I will be getting one as soon as funds allow.

USRAC turned out some...well, lets just say they weren't building the best rifles.

The FNH Winchesters are much better than the USRAC Winchesters.

And, read the manufacture on the barrel.

I just bought one last night.

The new ones don't say "South Carolina" or "FN" on them, but they do say "BA". I think mine says "BAMORGAN" or something like that, meaning Browning Arms, Morgan Utah, on the barrel. When I go home, I'll take a look.

No...in fact the only consensus I'm hearing is the trigger should have been left alone. The build quality is excellent on the new ones other than flat almost stamped looking checkering.

I was going to take a picture of one of the ones we have on display, but the only two we had have been sold...more due in shortly so I'm told.

I did not look, or I should say, I looked but paid no attention to the roll mark on the barrel when we all were drooling over them. None of the guys that were left over at the store must have paid any attention either, they did not know.

If I can get out of the dungeon when the new ones arrive, I'll take a look. Sorry!

On the left side of the receiver:

WRT the trigger, whoever said that was full of ****, at least if they had complaints about how it feels. No creep, no mush, crisp, short and light. Feels like it's been worked, but I just took the gun out of the box.

I believe the trigger is now enclosed, and that some people have issues with that for cold weather. Obviously, I have not had the gun long enough to find out if there are any issues.
