Tennessee names Barrett .50 cal official state rifle

The official state rifle of Tennessee is now the Barrett .50 caliber rifle. The decision is very appropriate as the company is headquartered in Christiana, Tennessee. The rifle is used in more than 50 countries.

In contrast the rifle that Tennessee just honored, has been banned in California since 2004. * wiki

"A Barrett .50-caliber sniper rifle as of Wednesday is the official rifle of the State of Tennessee.

The state Senate approved the bill with 27-1 votes this week, which the House approved the measure last spring with a majority vote.

The legislature wanted to honor the M82/M107 rifle, the first successful .50-cal semi-auto rifle to be used in active military service. Since its inception more than 30 years ago, the weapon has been adopted by more than 50 countries."

DeepSouth, I took it to mean that Tennessee is a Right to Work State and they are open for business. It says that if you are a firearms manufacturer the door is wide open for you to move a factory to Tennessee. That's just good sense advertising.

No, Deep South is spot on. We want Constitutional carry, the elimination of gun free zones, open carry w/o permit, and decriminalize the No Guns signs. Instead our RINO controlled legislature and governor give us crap like this.

eh, we DO want those things, but we've been on a pretty slow but steady march towards gun freedoms for the past 10 years. for instance, wasn't it just last year that they made it where you didn't have to have a permit to carry in your vehicle? we lost our freedoms incrementally. we will get them back incrementally. keep pushing, but patience and a long term perspective help

Not trying to start a caliber , but unless you are recoil sensitive, I see no reason not to use a 20 mm.
