Terrible Police Shooting in Oakland CA!

I was in Iraq '04 - '05 as an infantry team leader. Yes, we were effective, but you also have to imagine that we did not have to play by as many rules as a U.S. Police Officer. We basically had the authority to search any house whenever we wanted for any purpose.

I have to admit, I would rather have my freedom, than enjoy that level of "security". I am assuming that if the police started raiding "any house whenever we wanted for any purpose", you would see a lot more of these types of deaths happening... and Level IV body armor wont stop it. A rifle plate will only save your butt if the round hits that little 8 x 10 area the plate covers.

On the other hand, I do agree that society is far too restrictive on letting the cops do their jobs. Im sure the good officers of law enforcement would wipe the streets clean from every last bit of scum if the bleeding hearts didn't get in the way.

The enablers are as guilty as the offenders.

They had Sheriff Baca on camera to comment on the shooting. Baca did his typical anti-gun thing. He shot off his mouth about how assault weapons in the hands of the public are a "bad thing."

Apparently Baca believes that the gun instead of the CAREER CRIMINAL is where the finger of blame needs pointed at.

I truly wish we could get rid of Baca (and the rest of his like minded idiot peers) and replace them with sheriff's who can do their job without public interaction issues and/or officer moral problems. As it stands, we have career political sheriff's who have their heads up their butts telling us things which make no sense in an effort to usurp more power for themselves.
+1
We need more like Sherrif Grady Judd in Lakeland, Fl. who, during a press conference was asked, "Why did you shoot the (cop) killer 62 times?"
His answer, "That's all the bullets we had."

Guys like him are way too rare.

I am assuming that if the police started raiding "any house whenever we wanted for any purpose", you would see a lot more of these types of deaths happening.

First, that type of police activity isn't anywhere near occurring here. Second, we wouldn't see a lot more of these types of deaths, because your statement is just internet bravado and it doesn't belong in a thread that should be dedicated to disparaging a weak system that lets rapists and killers go free, and to honoring fallen heroes.

Sentence someone to prison and they should serve the ENTIRE sentence. Not half with half off for good behavior. Parole and probation should be reserved for exceptional circumstances ONLY. Not be considered something which will be given as a matter of course.
I actually think parole and probation are good tools, but the way they are handled in the US makes them mostly counterproductive. There is no way a parole officer can effectively supervise a couple hundred criminals who are out on parole.

I personally think anyone on parole probation should be electronically monitored 24/7. It would be dirt cheap using cell phone technology. Computers could monitor their movements 100% of the time and make sure they are only where they are allowed to be. If they stray from where they are allowed to be, it gets flagged and they get violated and sent back to prison.

Probation should be for non-violent offenders.

And juveniles should not get a pass.

Why on earth was this man not in prison? Carjacking and robbery convictions with aggravated assault, probably murder but got off and rape as well according to DNA evidence. Brutal.

May peace be with their families, healing will eventually come but the scars will last forever.
