This is a propaganda video of what appears to be Iraqis building scoped rifles for sniping purposes. An AK is given a bullpup modification, probably for shooting from vehicles. A scoped supressed bolt gun is test fired. Finally a scene from their supressor making factory where they show off their products.

Chilling stuff. These guys are getting more and more dangerous.

Please don't post propaganda videos, some people on this board don't like to be reminded of what our soliders have to face everyday in Iraq.
 
I've actually seen this video before quite a while ago, probably last year around this time actually.

Some of these bastages have been using suppressed weapons for a while. When my friend was in Fallujah in November of 2004 he and one of his buddies were fired on by a sniper using a suppressed weapon. Didn't penetrate the trauma plates, so they both got lucky.

More dangerous? Sure, but this video isn't proof of that. Some creative Rube Goldberg gunsmithing going on though.
 
Well I've stated clearly it is a propaganda video, so that the reader can make an informed decision to see it or not. I for one think it's better to be informed.

I'm somewhat alarmed by this development. I had thought the only sniping weapons they had were leftover Dragunovs. There must be a way to prevent the sale of rifle scopes to that region. That's one thing these guys can't make. If someone was shipping it, that's 100% likelihood it's going to some terrorist group. Probably a good way to track them to their factories.

Don't like? I am sure our soldiers dont like being there either, but the American public should be as informed as possible as to what we are facing. American public cannot burry its head in the sand on any issue any more there is to much at stake.

I am not against seeing the video and I agree that it is best to be informed. But others don't see it that way. They like to keep their head on the sand, and not rock the boat. They might flame you as a terrorist sympathizer.

Yeah, lets ban all guns into Iraq. That'll work.:banghead: It sure worked in Britian to ban guns, they have no crime at all:rolleyes: That will end the war and bring our fighting men home by cristmas! we'll just ban all guns in iraq:barf: :barf: :barf: Remember that they have neighbor countries that simpathize with them. Making a scope isn't that hard. The region was the first to develope optics back in the middle ages IIRC.

Almost forgot most casualties are from IEDs anyway. We'd better ban anything that could explode too. Anything pointy.

This type of mentality is why were not done yet. We need to stop fighting in a PC manner and kick serious butt. Make a lot of casualties quick, stop making our soldiers be police.

Great video, just sucks that terrorist have better guns than me.
 
why on earth would rifle scopes be the one thing terrorists can't make?

I made a brass scope once for an old black powder rifle. It wasn't zeiss or anything, but it worked well enough. Besides, it doesn't take too much imagination or tinkering to convert a binocular into a crude rifle scope.

If you had lens-grinding equipment, like someone who makes eyeglasses would have, you could turn out galilean telescopes , with crosshairs in them, all day long.

what is so bad about a supressed firearm? not giong to hurt you any more than a non-supressed.

It isn't that it is going to hurt more. It is just that it makes it harder to isolate and spot the shooter. If they are smart they put themselves deeper in a building, or firing from inside a vehicle, so they are even harder to spot.

Bascially it keeps them alive to shoot at another one of us at a future date.

And anybody with half a brain and some basic tools can make a basic suppresor.

No kidding. When the OP said Chilling stuff. These guys are getting more and more dangerous. I was expecting to see all sorts of IEDs. Instead the most "chilling" thing I saw was a hunting rifle with a suppressor on it.

Gabe, you singled out the bullpup modification. Does that mean you support the banning of bullpup rifles in America too? Or do you just ban stuff when it's convenient?
 
That was another fair demonstration why gun control will never work. Even though they're making those for less than savory purposes, laws only apply to the law-abiding.


If the world's best military force can't stop them from making those, what possibly could stop anyone from making them here, other than the threat of punishment?


EDIT: A thought... other than the language, what keeps that from being in any major city in the USA?
 
Yep. As stated countless times, the law only applies to those that will follow it voluntarily.
 
This video is propaganda. pure amd simple. They Know about these Pro 2nd ammendment gun boards. there is no need to be talking about how they are progressing and getting better, besides how can you tell. This should not be spread around this board, or american internet sites for that matter. Let AL-Jezarre do there dirty work. I can understand wanting to be informed about what the other side is up, hearing it from them serves no purpose but there own. This is not an atack on the thread starter, just my opinion of this video. We all want to win this war, but it's not going to be easy by a long shot.
 
Imagine a full size AK with a foot long suppressor. Makes sense to down size the thing.
