Reloading...

Are Privi Partizan and Wolf Gold reloadable (Berden or Boxer primed)? Can the GP11 cases be modified for Boxer primers?

Thanks,

Boxcab

Prvi, Wolf, FNM, Hornaday, and Norma are all reloadable (boxer primed). GP11 would be difficult to convert to boxer but can be reloaded with berdan primers. The problem is finding berdan primers, though Magtech (I think)makes/made them. Search around, there's info out there on berdan reloading.

You're really better off buying reloadable ammo at $12 a box and reloading it or selling the brass. Even forming it from 284 brass is a poor option now that it's hard to find.

I just started into the world of guns, so alot of the lingo is going over my head, but I was wondering if .284 winchester is a commercial ammo I can buy anywhere. If so, is it safe for the cup levels and can I use it instead of 7.5 swiss? Sorry if I sound like an idiot.

The last issue of small arms review said that the swiss will no longer be selling surplus weapons.... One would think that would go for ammo, too. The reason is political.

I read this immediately after returning from a gun show where I saw 5 bricks for sale @ $25 per. I was kicking myself for only buying one.

My friend has a shop which specialises in militaria.

He told me that the milsup ammo is dearer that the AX ammo (which I think is made by Privi Partisan). He said he can get it, but didn't bother. He did say it was excellent ammo though, complete with neat little wax seals around the bullets.

Monoceros, 284 can't be substituted for 7.5 Swiss. What we were referring to was the practice of reforming the 284 brass into 7.5 Swiss brass using a resizing die and then loading it to 7.5 Swiss specifications. In then end, you're still shooting 7.5 Swiss.

Just curious, how do you guys say it? Seven and a half Swiss, seven point five Swiss, seven point five by fifty five, seven five Swiss, what?

I got lucky and purchased two cases of GP-11 before supplies dried up. Also got 500 cases from Graf's for use with boxer primers. Graf's also have some of the excellent St Marie accessories for the K-31 such as a clamp on scope mount and diopter sights.

Good news is forthcoming. A buddy of mine called AIM today to inquire about some Prvi 7.5mm. He was told that GP11 is "on the water", inbound to the States. Cost and ETA as yet unknown. Time to start saving up to put two or three cases in my stash for sure.

Southern Ohio Guns still has GP11 surplus listed in thier latest flier (I've never seen it not listed, and they always have it when I call to order some). $24 for 60 rds.May not be "cheap" as far as surplus ammo goes, but still pretty cheap compared to a lot of other ammo....

I thought that was the case, it sucks I don't handload.
A K-31 is about the best excuse around to get into handloading. If you want to get in cheap, get a Lee anniversary Kit from www.midwayusa.com for under $80. That, plus a set of 7.5 Swiss dies and and a 7.5 Swiss case trim die will do it.

I currently reload 7.5 Swiss for $4.51 per 20, or 23 cents each.

The only brass I have ever used is .284Win brass.
