Picture of K31 ammo?

I called buckeye outdoors and they didnt have any. I called dunhams and they have two and they are $149 each. Seems a bit high when I can buy them online for 80 + shiping + dealer transer fees. What do you think better to fork out the 150 or go threw the motions to order online?

Dunham's usually puts out a new sales flyer every thursady afternoon. Stop in there frequently late on a thursday or early friday morning, grab a flyer and flip through it. They usually put their K-31s and various other rifles for sale once every month or two. Their sale price for the K-31 is usually $120 or $99. I sored a really nice 1942 walnut stocked k31 for $99 this way- with a handpick fee and shipping and handling, I cannot get a better deal with my C&R.

Thanks I will keep that in mind.

Is it legel for some one with a C&R to buy a gun and then "sell" it to some one else?

You can always get a set of Swiss 7.5x55 full length loading dies and some .284 Winchester brass. Lube it and run it thru the resizing die. Presto change-o you got 7.5x55 Swiss brass.
:D

Technically it is possible, but you are not supposed to conduct a business. I personally wouldn't do it, but then again I live in the PRK and I was under the impression that all guns had to wait ten days and go through an FFL. Some people have stated only guns younger than 50 years old. I don't know if I ever got a good answer on that one.

However, your state might not care about private party transfers and if the C&R holder only did it once, they might not get caught. I personally think you need to use this opportunity to go get your C&R. :D

"Reloading was actually quite easy. I found that once you had a set of dies, full length sizing of 284 Winchester brasses would work. Trim to 55 mm and make sure that when you seat your .308 diameter bullet it is deep enough in the case so that the ogive will not touch the leade (The unrifled area just ahead of the chamber before the rifling starts. Very small in K31's), or your bolt will remain open just a tad, and you will get misfires. I used .308 data and got excellent accuracy."

:D

Still need a headstamp image?

Thanks for the head stamp image.

I didn't figure it was exactly legal to have a C&R order some thing for some one else. It's what $30 bucks to get the C&R licence? Then another $80 for the gun + like $20 for shiping. Humm I think I may just suck it up and buy one at dunhams. I will check for a sale this friday.

Ok so give me some more info on reshaping some easy to get brass.

AIM Surplus and SOG tend to have a good supply of the ammo.

Graf & Sons lists virgin boxer primer style brass for $29/100 which is less than the Norma ($18/20 from Midway)

The GP11 brass is some of the best made brass I've ever seen. It is reloadable but you have to use Berdan primers and tools.. I believe Graf's has the tools and ITD says they have primers.

Does the 7.5x55 brass that comes from Graf's have the correct rim dimensions?

I've looked at my 284 brass and compared it to my 7.5x55 surplus brass and can see a marked diference int he rim dimensions. The true 7.5x55 brass rims fit the bolt face perfectly while the 284 brass rim is similar to a 30-06 rim and is thinner and smaller in diameter than 7.5 rims.

Hey had some time to kill at work and I figured what better way than with some swiss 7.5 rounds :D I used some of the images you guys submited for the textures.

Warning! Large Image (1280x1024)

My understanding is that the .284Win brass has a sightly smaller rim.

But my K-31 has only had .284Win brass through it, and I have never had a problem with it. And I do get good accuracy.

Have you noticed that some of the trends in cartridge designs are longer necks and sharper shoulders? And here's the 7.5 Swiss cartridge, designed around the turn of the century, with a long neck and sharp shoulder.

I've not used it. I don't actually own a K31, only borrow one from a friend occassionally when he's recently stocked up on ammo

Humm no one commented on the image I made :what:

I got to remember to check dunhams this thursday and friday for sales :)

It's a good pic! Even captured the wax around the bullet base....

I think I like your aquarium (tank7 actually) and the water glass better though :D

Just an FYI... but if you order from SouthernOhioGun.com - the picture they have on their website appears to be wrong. Heck, the case they show is rimmed... looks more like 7.62x54R to me.

I bought a K-31 Swiss from a local Dunhams and they sold me 7.5 French (7.5x54) ammo for it. Beware. The box says "7,5 MAS" on it.

Don't know if it's any good but I got a new SGN yesterday that shows (on the front cover) Graf & Sons with some Serbian made 7.5 Swiss, with boxer primed brass for $13.99/20....

hcker2000, I liked the one without the spikey think in the lower right. Sometimes less is more :)

GigaBuist: yea I think I might have read some thing about you geting the wrong ammo at dunhams. This is why I was making absolutly sure I knew what I was looking for before I got there.
