I still have some that I'm carrying in either my 642 or M85 but it seems that supplies online have dried up, if I wanted to replenish it. Guess I'll have to back to BB standard pressure .38 as at least I know I can periodically practice/restock my carry ammo.

I hate this ammo shortage - everybody is tapped out everywhere. I usually carry GS 124gr+P in my G19, but now I think will have to go with Speer GD in same config as that seems to the only premium SD ammo in 9mm available.

True enough, I haven't seen any in quite a while now. A shame, because it's a great low recoil round for the 642, which my significant other carries. We still have a box of 50 and a few speedloaders stocked, but that's it.

I wonder if Federal is still making it.

Saw a few 20 round boxes locally for $21 a pop.
I dont think so.
I passed them up for one 50 round box of Prvi Partizan 158gr. LRN, which was $19.

Federal has recently re-issued the standard pressure version of the Nyclad 125 grain .38 Special. Whether or not you can find it in your area, I don't know. I have seen it at gunshows locally here in Illinois. Whether it is identical to the older version, I know not.

They sure have. I just bought a box of it last week for $20.00 for my LCR. I think it will be an outstanding match-up.

My memory may be dim here, but didn't this load come in 50 round boxes back in the day?

a buck a round for an all-lead HP developed in the old-school days strikes me as opportunistic, but I guess it's a seller's market for Federal at this point.

All of the Federal Self Defense rounds that I'm seeing come in 20 round boxes. A buck a pop is par for the course and pretty much the lower end for SD rounds, at least rounds sold for that purpose and stated as so.

I found a box of new Nyclad's a while back and was surprised at how low the velocity was for such a light bullet. I expect that velocity out of a standard pressure 158g loading. After seeing the test results on denim-cover gel, I went back to my regular old cast lead 158's.

The old version of the Nyclad pretty reliably produced a bit over 800-830 or so fps from a 1 7/8 inch barrel. The new Nyclad is listed by Federal at 830 fps but no barrel length is specified. Since most of their baliistics are for 4 inch barrels, it gives one pause. I should have bought some when I saw them and will next time. I can chronograph some of the new ones compared to some of the originals and see if there is any difference.
