I'm on board. I'm going down to the pond later and chucking in all these .44's (I mean, .43's), and start looking for a real gun, the .41.

Ok, I'm with ya. But for safety sake, I'll take that silver lookin' one off your hands. Send it on over b4 ya head down to the pond.:neener::D

The .44 magnum is awkward to carry concealed and the wear on the human cartilage from shooting it isn't welcome. It's a freak caliber. I don't see a need for anything more powerful than .357 magnum in a handgun. It's not like a .44 magnum will turn a bear on it's back with one random hit. .44 magnum in a rifle sounds more appealing, but then there are so many clibers on that field that who cares? I've shot two rounds of .44 magnum in a revolver and that will be it untill the day I die. It felt like my lower arm had developed a crack in one of the bones for months afterwards. My .357 magnum has taken the best of my wrists already. I understand why the 10mm never became popular in the police force. The women probably said they would rather quit than go on shooting.

They said the same thing about the .357 Magnum when the .44 maggie came out. And they've sang funeral dirges for the 10mm and .41 maggie going on 10 years.

Man, somebody's been drinking bathtub gin and smoking crack again!

But hey, if you really hate that big magnum so much, just send it over my way for safe keeping until you regain your sanity. I already carry a full size
.357, and I'd sure like to carry a .44 mag. for a while!

Bullet Bob, once you're free of those outdated revolvers, go get you a modern autoloading rig...

somebody should check out garrets 330 grain wallops from the 44 mag
and remind me what the 41 mag has on it

Meh. The .44 and .41 are nearly the same thing and both are too much gun for almost every purpose.

Everyone knows that the .44 Special is the king of handguns. :neener:

"You mean that someone is still actually making a .41 and ammo for it? I guess it's been years since I even saw one."

I was going to say exactly that, but somebody beat me to it.

Besides, just go and try to find a lever gun in .41 to match up with that hogleg...

Great post gizamo! I needed a laugh today.

But you forgot one, and it settles the "manly caliber" debate.

The 41 doesn't have to lie about it's size to everyone.......it's late, is Arts grandmother still up?(ducking)

The gun chambered for the .44 Magnum is clearly the superior gun due to the fact that you can shoot .44 Magnums OR .44 special from the same gun. :neener:

There is a .41 Special....
You have to make it yourself, but a few custom gunsmiths making Ruger Single Sixes over to them...

Longer than that. When I got my first handgun about 30 years ago, I was thinking about one of those fixed sight Smith and Wessons. I was told I didn't want that. Before too long I wouldn't be able to get ammo for it they said. Well shoot. I had to listen to "them." They worked in the gun shop. They had to know what they were talking about. ;)

It's still around I believe.

Everytime I take my blue S & W Model 29 6 inch to the range it get's a heck of a lot attention. Just the sight of that weapon demands respect. I've actually carried it concealed before in a shoulder holster, must admit looked like I had a large tumor under my lift arm pit.
Even if I missed my target the concusion will knock em off there feet. Yep think I'll keep my 44!

Giz, You just ruined my day, I just ordered a Ruger 'Alaskan' in .44M (Sorry, 430) and now I find out that it is obsolete. Ah, I'll just go ahead and keep it and hope things turn around in the near future---LOL
