Peruse the '08 S&W catalog... no 57/58/657 .41 Maggies but fifteen different 29/329/629 models! You know, I think I'll have a launch platform available new for my .44 Russians available for a bit longer.
Remember, the .44 Russian was the start of 'The Deception'. It's predecessor, the .44 American, which really was .44" although it was stepped to .429" to go inside the cartridge case, fell to the Russian's desire for an easier to make bullet - a constant .429". Thus was born the .44 Russian - and 'The Deception' commenced. Of course, it was continued in 1907 when they added the longer smokeless/bp 'Special' cartridge - and then the abomination of 1955, too. Fortunately, chambered for that 1955 hunting round - or the 'Special', like their three such offerings in that same catalog this year, they will work with my beloved initial deceptor. Sadly, still no .44 Russian chambered offerings... it's been a while... I'll trudge on!
