I have a Desantis Nemesis already and the extra "tab" on the holster makes the entire gun look like a brick in my pocket.

I want something soft enough to mold around my leg but just stiff enough to break up the outline of the gun.

Is it the $10 Uncle Mikes pocket holster or is there one better?

Thanks!

Do you have the square or round cut? I suppose I could buy the square and trim it to round if I didn't like it.

No question--the Mika pocket holster is the best for 642 pocket carry. I got the round cut as it works in either type of pocket. For me, it's the perfect way to CCW.

I have a round cut because I wear Blue Jeans more than anything else. If you wear dress pants or a suit for work you probably will need the square cut. At that price buying both is a real option.

TFin04 - Yes, I have to agree that Mika's round cut is one of the best available. Haven't tried the square cut yet but I will. I have a Nemesis as well and I like it too. The one thing to remember is that you know you are carrying, others do not. You see your pocket holster in the mirror as as a huge bump, most others won't notice a thing. Even if they do they don't think gun and most will not give it a second thought.

...I suppose I could buy the square and trim it to round...

The way they are sewn I don't think that is a good option. They are priced so low that you can get one of each anyway.

BTW: Have not seen you over at the 642 Club yet, stop on by and say hi.

Roberts says "you can use a round cut in a square pocket, but not the reverse."

It's all leather

Not unless he has changed materials recently. He uses a type of vinyl material last I knew.

For me the Mika was good, but it is far from the end all be all of pocket holsters. At a price slightly higher than the Uncle Mike's pocket holster it is definately better than the UM.

I found the Mika to be too bulky in my pockets and thus make my own now using 5oz. rough-out leather or 12oz rough-out leather wet moulded. Both types have been far superior for me.

Just my opinion and worth what you paid for it.

Instead of Uncle Mike's - try out Unkle Mika....I love my round cut Mika pocket holster - the 642 disappears into most of my attire...Need a square cut next....

+1 for Mika

Sounds like the Mika round is an overall winner.

I will order one soon.

That extra tab on the Nemesis serves an important purpose. One of the potential problems with pocket carry is that the gun and holster might come out together when you quick draw. The Nemesis is made so if you pull back at a slight angle when you draw the tab will catch on the edge your pocket and allow a reliable draw. I use one with my P-3AT and really like it.

I realize that people have personal preferences, but I have actually carried in the Mika round cut, square cut, and the Nemesis. The Mika round cut is my choice, hands down. I carry in suit trousers, jeans, docker-type slacks, and shorts and it works exceedingly well in all. I can get a full firing grip--with index finger along the frame, in my pocket. That can be very handy in situations where threats are possible but you don't want to go sweeping a cover garment or digging in a pocket to expose your readiness.
