"Best" is a very subjective term and the list has rifle, sub gun and machine gun.

Most fun to shoot
Most accurate
Easiest to use
Greatest reliability
Most widely used
Most innovative
Optimum selection of all the above

Defining "best" as the guns that were the most successful in their intended roles, I would suggest the:

LMG: Bren
GPMG: MG42/MG3
HMG: Browning M2

I can't think of any really outstanding automatic shoulder rifle, and I don't know enough about SMGs to make a case for one.

The "best" ones shouldn't be tied to manufacturer, IMO. The best ones, in fact, are the ones that work flawlessly, time and again, without fail, regardless of conditions or circumstances or the company's name that's stamped on the piece.

"This is so funny.... The OP is asking about opinions on weapons represented in a video game,in the context OF said video game," and the thread hasn't been locked yet!

Wonder why? Hmmmm?

You do realize that combat arms is also a term used to when referring to parts of a country's military, don't you? Not everyone here is up on the latest video game names, especially when they use a commonly known military term. I suppose we will bow to your superior video games knowledge.

Wonder why? Hmm?
I don't know, it might be that some of us actually step away from the computer to do things like sleep and have a life. :)

That said, if this is about video games, it is off-topic. If it isn't, the OP can PM me and clear it up.

Sorry, just got back to virtual land.

As almost all of you have pointed out, OT.

As a note for gamers: Generally speaking game guns and almost any game discussion are OT for THR. For an explanation just read the closed game threads, but the short version is that the discussion is about games instead of real guns and mistaking games for scholarship on firearms is a much too common mistake.
