Best survival gun?

I suppose your choice would depends of what you are trying to survive.
For feeding your family and chasing off wild animals a 22 rifle is a handy tool but limited in use, as are most calibers.
If you look to the farmers and mountain-men you will usually find a 12ga. That's despite the fact that there are a lot of firearms out there in numerous calibers. A 30-30 is great for taking down deer but useless if you happen to find a flock of ducks. I grew up in the country and while many people have deer guns- they all have shotguns. The 12ga is by far the most versatile round out there. Depending on the round you chamber you can hunt anything from squirrels and pigeons to Moose. No other caliber offers the same choices. It is also been a proven man stopper for over a hundred years.
While a 22 rifle is cheaper to feed and a handgun is easier to carry- a 12ga can serve any purpose (and the ammo can be purchased almost anywhere).
Now if you're talking about surviving a mob of bad-guys who are out for blood we may need to talk about a whole other animal...or not...

My first choice would be my CZ452 lux 22lr. but any of my firearms would be a lifesaver. .22lr pistol to 30-06 or a shotgun sure beats throwing rocks.

This thread makes me think that you have watched too many action movies and think a bad guy or bear just fall down after one bullet.
