I keep reading about all these glocks and i'm starting to think i want one.:banghead:

A former brother-in-law had one and the first time I ever shot a glock i was more accurate than he was with it. plus a 9mm with a 33rd clip is so tempting.

I have a a couple Ruger P95s and i bought 2 32rd mags for them. Don't let those tempt you alone. Hi cap mags are made for many makes. I will be going with the Springfield XDM 9mm over a Glock. I just don't get the hype?? I have a glock fan friend also. I think they became popular after "Die Hard" came out??? The only reason I think they are so popular is because of all the parts that can be bought for them. Kinda like an AR15.....And I guess they are rather reliable. Those coppers sure do love them!!

Reliable through 1000 rounds with my G21. Not a single malfunction of any kind. Ergo's don't work for EVERYONE but hey it is what it is. Decently priced too. Dang fine pistols.

Wish I had known you were going "that way" I just got rid of the 40 cal Glock 23c with the 9mm conversion and several mags. Great shooting gun, lite, not bad recoil, all the things a guy could want except I couldn't live with it's safety features.

Actually swapped it for a Bushmaster so at least I didn't loose anything.

Yeah, I felt the same way.

I just had to have one.

While I don't regret buying, I wouldn't buy another.

No complaints...it does whatever I tell it to do and it does it well. Reliable, accurate and the easiest firearm to strip down to nothing but loose parts. All you need is an allen wrench small enough to use as an impromptu punch. I have disassembled a Glock to nothing but a pile of parts, and I am still unsure why you need that pesky Glock Armorer's tool.

To each his own. I just never realized how badly I wanted an XD until I bought a Glock. I'm never satisfied and I always need a couple of more firearms...but the Glock I could honestly live without once (if) it's ever gone.

Wife and kids were part of my reason but for me the major point:

I am old and set in my ways I guess. I grew up with manual safeties. Always even when hunting with a pistol or rifle placed the manual safety on and when bringing the gun up to shoot flipped safety to fire; didn't even have to think about it. I was not doing combat fast fire or quick draw.

I carried a 1911 or S&W 38 in the Great Patriotic War. 1911 I would run one in the chamber but the S&W revolver I carried an empty chamber under the hammer.

I started to get a $30. trigger safety for my Glock but had someone who wanted it more than his Bushmaster. Deal was done. If I buy another pistol it will be a 1911 type or a Cz-??

Different strokes for different folks. If everyone liked the same thing there wouldn't be enough to go around.

The Glock fit my hand and with both barrels I was as accurate as my 1911. Great shooting gun...Just not for me.

There are people who have used Glocks since they first came out(?) and love them as they love a good dog or something else dearly possessed. I like the way my Glock shot and the ease of cleaning but like I said it just wasn't/isn't for me.

Not for me.
I don't have anything against Glocks, but I'm not a huge fan. That being said, I would like a G20 SF. That would be my choice hands down.
There's definately nothing wrong with wanting one.

I like Glocks because they are simple. I have a 21 that I customized with a dremel tool, and Krylon spraypaint. I like mine, and I would buy another one. G-19

I used to hate Glocks! I owned a couple of 19's and the grip just felt wierd. Then I tried a Glock 30 and something about the short fat grip really worked, and it is a tack driver to boot. Then I bought a 26 and it is my favorite carry auto. I like other brands but there nothing wrong with the Dark side.

About 10 years ago, I decided I needed another pistol (had a Colt Series 70 LW Combat Commander. I thought I should buy American and bought a S&W Sigma SW40. I hated the trigger pull. My oldest daughter liked it so I gave it to her for a college graduation present and bought a Glock 23C. I love it and have put more rounds through it than I can count. It is reliable, easy as a revolver (no safeties), good trigger pull if you practice. I bought a Glock 23 for my younger daughter's college graduation and the other is annoyed...even though she moved to Boston and became a Democrat.

The Glock 23C stays by my wife's side of the bed (I like having my Kimber by mine) and she just qualified again with it last week.

Bottom line: you can work with any gun if you practice enough to understand how it works and shoots. You can find any number of folks who hate a pistol or love it. The only important part is how you feel about it....how you can shoot it...how you can keep it clean...how you educate all those who have to shoot it. The Glock works fine for me, I have two, bought my daughter one, and would love to transition my wife from her KelTec .32 to one.

That said, I also carry other firearms depending on where I go. I shoot all of them a lot.

Nobody says things like....
"Is the Glock as reliable as the XD?"
or

This is because Glock sets the standard that the others are measured by.

I own a 21sf with a 22 conversion kit. I am getting a 10mm barrel & extractor to shoot 10mm next. I never really liked the looks of a Glock, but I do like the function. I carry a 27 with a 357sig barrel installed. It is a really good setup. When I want to save money I drop in the 9mm barrel and install a 33 round mag and shoot several hundred rounds at the range. I slowly fell in love with the Glocks. Looks are only skin deep. Function goes all the way thru.

I just can't fall in love with my 19, no matter how hard I try. Yeah, it goes bang every time. So do my other handguns that I actually love to go shoot. It's reliable, accurate and simple to work on. That speaks volumes and keeps me satisfied, but not enamored.

Maybe if I had bought a 23 so I could drop in a 357 barrel when I wanted, I would feel different. As it is, I bought a 19 and there's not any versatility there in that respect (caliber interoperability).

First I bought an HK. I was young and naive, I played too much Rainbow Six, and honestly bought the uber-hype hook, line, and sinker. I have since bought a Glock 20 and a SIG P220. Two of them are going away.

I don't really care what happens to the HK. I told my bro and my dad both that if they can get it running as advertised, they can keep it. Right now the only function it serves me is as a $1K dust magnet.

The SIG is cleaned up and sitting in its original hardcase in the closet right now. Honestly thinking about trading it towards another Glock, probably a 19 or a 30.

The Glock 20 is the only one that stays. It is stoked with 175 gr Silvertips doing truck duty. I like 1911s too, but they are too expensive for what you get and packing around a pistol that weighs 50% more with half the capacity doesn't make any sense to me. I might still invest in one some day if money permits. And I am intrigued by the CZs. They fit nice and don't seem too expensive, but finding holsters as a lefty, and finding models with the features I require (ambi, light rail, cocked and locked carry) can be difficult. Sure they exist, but again, why carry a 40 oz 19+1 9mm when I can carry a 28 oz 15+1 10mm?

Is the ejector really that different? Even if you have to replace the extractor, it isn't that difficult. And other than that, new mag + new barrel + field strip = TA DA!

But I bought a g19. The 357 nor the 40 cal barrel will fit according to what I am told. So that means I would need to change the slide so it would have a hole large enough to fit a 40 or 357 sig barrel. If I'm going to spend $200+ for a slide & barrel, I may as well spend $2-300 more and add something else to the collection (the current ones in my safe are lonely) or just start reloading.

You're right, the extractor is cheap and easy to replace. If I was swapping back and forth, I would change that, too. Especially since it is cheap and can be done quickly in the field (or the range, wherever I'm shooting). As I said, that is one of the glock qualities that I actually like. The first time I stripped it (completely, down to loose parts and nothing else to disassemble), I was amazed. I didn't need to go to the toolbox. I just used a loose allen wrench that happened to be there and the whole thing was completely disassembled in a matter of a few minutes. I take that back, I did need to get up and get a screwdriver to get the mag release out.

Glad I went with the 20; 10mm Auto, .40 S&W, 9x25 Dillon, .357 SIG all with just a barrel swap, plus .45 ACP (or Super), .50 GI, and who knows what else with a simple upper switch. As if the 10mm wasn't versatile enough...
