Brazil...
Keyhole...
You asked about gun specific countries:
Most of what you see here in Brazil are either old Colt or SW .38's, lots of wheel guns, old Winchester police issue model 12's (still in issue), and alot of Taurus semi's (since they are made in Brazil, actually in the city I am currectly at for vacation!). Correction, you don't see alot of them, hardly any of them. They are way too expensive anyways, since the govt. tax is somewhere around 100% of manufacturing costs right now anyways. I guess they figure that hey, since we've already outlawed hunting (a crime that send you directly to jail, with no bail), there's really no need for ANY firearms, right? Hey, you might be able to get a carry permit though...
However, carry permits are next to impossible to get, on a may-issue basis, after paying $500 annually (plus however much bribe money you want to pay to your local senator, etc.), with a yearly pychological/physical/background check required.
While all this is going on, the drug lords in Rio de Janeiro run rampant and uninfringed over anyone they want, including the military. They all have Stinger missiles, RPGs, M16's, and pretty much anything else that they want from Paraguay...
Last year my best friend's cousin was kidnapped by some drug scum. Too bad for them he was American and had some balls, and at their "prison" he grabbed a gun from them, killed two of the kidnappers and escaped. Only to have the police come in three days later and confiscate the "illegal firearm" that had just saved his life. A week later, the drug scum came back and killed him, defenseless, on his doorstep. Only several months later, after trying hopelessly to get an investigation through, and finally resorting to hiring a private investigator (basically a hired gun) who brought in the scum (one dead, one alive) did we find out that the local police were all on the drug bankrole anyways.
STUPID STUPID PEOPLE!! :banghead:
I agree with Oleg's mentality about waking up in the US.
Thanks, my rants over now.
