The HK VP40 is here!

Wow! HK just dropped this one out of the clear blue sky! There were rumors that it would be coming in the next year or two but they are in stores now. Uses the same mag as the P30/P30L in .40 cal. I will definitely be picking one up when I can. I'm not the biggest forty fan but I will always have at least one since no matter how bad it gets, I've always been able to find ammo for it.

I love my VP9. Not enough of a fan of the .40 to get one though as I already have my SIG P229 that is stupendous in .40. But I will never forget the last couple ammo shortage where there was no 9/45 available but plenty of .40.

The VP45 however! Yes that is on my list to get and maybee sooner than anyone thought??

The VP45 will not be long, I think. The VP45 has been on the MD approved list for a year. It was one line that included VP9,VP40, and VP45.

It looks like ugly version of S&W 99 with Glock-style trigger. Those rounded S&W were best of the Walther P99 lot. Turkish rendition can be bought for just over $300.

I do very much like the gun. But if the VP40 is as good a gun as the VP9 is, I'd definitely take it over my P30L. As a straight-up carry gun the LEM has some advantages over a striker fired gun IMO, but the P30L is large enough that I don't carry it all that often. So if it's going to be primarily a range gun that I can CCW sometimes the VP40 will probably be better.

I'll note that if I was richer I'd never sell a gun!

You know I find this really weird the more I think about it. I follow HK USA on Facebook, and I don't recall even hearing that these were released. This thread was the first I heard of it.

It does seem to be a bit of a soft rollout. Surprising given the treatment given the VP9 and P30SK upon their appearance. I'm not a huge .40 fan so I'll probably pass on this one, but nice to see H&K getting new products to market.

I wonder if it's just that HK figures people wanting a VP40 would be on the watch, and they don't want it to take away from the P30SK roll out. I dunno.

I don't really care for the 40 cal either. I actually sold off the one and only 40 S&W I owned, but I could possibly see picking one of these up. Good to have variety.
