The Hunting Rifle Picture Thread

Not much to look at, but this is "lil blackie", 20181221_170729.jpg a Rem 700 sps tactical in .308. I did a bunch of work to the hogue stock and put a timney trigger on it. It's been the rifle my boys and I have been bringing in the box stand the last couple of years. I bring 2 different loads hunting with it, a reduced load for them pushing 125 sierra prohunters, and I always bring a couple of my long range rounds also. There's a bunch of long shot opportunities where we hunt and this rifle can handle it.
Both shoot the same zero and it's a gun with so many uses. We also shoot steel with it all summer out to 1,000! Burris Fullfield e1 on top.

My prettiest hunting rifle...Rem 700 CDL, 270 Win, Stainless Fluted, in an after-market stock with Leupold VX2 2.5-8X, Timney trigger, pillar-bedded, free-floated, shooting 130 grain handloads for deer and 140 Nosler Accubonds for moose. Shot an 860 lb bull last year at 270 yards. One shot, one kill!

700 LV SS.JPG 270 stocks 2.jpg

Top: Remington 700 Stainless Light Varmint, .223 Rem.

Bottom: Rem 700 Stainless with 2 stocks: Wearing an after-market (Fajen?) with two full-length, vertical Carbon Fibre layers, Timney-triggered. Also, a Remington Sendero stock, with skim bedding and free-floated barrel-channel liner. This is used when hunting in bad
weather.

The first-blood with the rifle and new stock - 2017. Shot was about 270 yards down the haul road, as the bull was walking across. Shot while sitting on my stool, resting elbow on my knee. Handloaded 140 grain bullet.
