Has anyone heard anything about actual performance, range reports, or sales of the new Kahr .380? All I know about it, outside of the pictures and specs, is that it was to ship in June, and it's June. Any news?

Any idea what day it's supposed to be out? I know there are a lot of days left. I guess I'm just anxious to find out any info on it. The Ruger was supposed to ship mid-may, and people started reporting at the very end of February. That's why I got excited and thought maybe there'd be some news on it. It seems the buzz surrounding the Kahr is not nearly as fever-pitch as it was with the Ruger LCP.

I just saw on there website that the formerly "Shipping June 2008!" has been changed to "Shipping Summer 2008!"

for what its worth

I talked to two kahr in home people this past week and they are saying we are still on schedule for June--late june. so ur guess is as good as mine. Don't want them to rush it out and then hav eto get them all back either...

Shipping 2008ish!

It seems the buzz surrounding the Kahr is not nearly as fever-pitch as it was with the Ruger LCP.

Probably the substantial cost difference which is an attraction for the .380.

Worth a look? Sure. Worth double the cost of the Ruger? Doubtful
_______

Why speculate before they have even hit the street?

MSRP sure is pricey for a gun like that. Will have to see it in person first.

Or maybe because while Kahr spends a decent amount on advertising, they just can't compare to Ruger's media blitz.

Or maybe Kahr wanted to get it right the first time, and did not want to copy an existing design.

Maybe they did, but I don't want to be a beta tester for anything, especially a firearm that I may use to defend myself. I don't trust any gun until it has a track record. I'm not saying the Kahr will be junk, but I will reserve judgement until they have been in circulation for a while.

I'd rather have a PM9 which I do. More powerful, cheaper caliber. If you can't put a PM9 in your front pocket, your pants are too tight.

The kahr and ruger are not comparable... Kahrs are of premium quality and exacting tolerances. They have proven to be reliable and accurate handguns. Obviously you have to ask yourself: how much is your life worth?

*I have owned a Kel Tec P3AT, Kel Tec PF9, and a Kahr PM9... The Kel Tecs are in some other dude's possesion right now and the PM9 is in my pocket... take that for what its worth.

:scrutiny:

I'm a fan of Kahrs. I've got 4 of them: K40, K9, MK9, and PM9.

But Ruger makes quality guns as well and frankly Ruger has a better reputation for reliability than Kahr. If I was in the market for a .380 (and if I could get them in MA), I'd take a close look at both of them.

hate to.

yea, my pm9 is a POS, it now ghas 12,650 flawless rounds through it. Probably will trade it for a kel-tec. Just can't depend on it..:evil:

7 four sure

ur really right, my pm9 rides in my front pocket 24/7. It can go for me 98% of anywhere I want to go with it. but I sure love that little P380 to, and will just have to have one for that other 2%. I think once you guys see it and put ur hand son it, it will "work" on you. But nothing compares to my PM9 for me anyhow.

I have a PM9,,, I love it, it is accurate and reliable,,, I can't explain it but I love small concealable .380s'

I gotta have that P380

On the list at my local shop. I'll pay the extra money for a quality pistol as I did for my PM9.

Ive only put a couple mags through my new PM9.(hope to do some more tomorrow). But Im happy so far.
So I will definitely consider the P380 as a BUG to the PM9 after it has been out for a while. Im not really in any hurry.

Guess I should have been a little clearer as to what I meant. Why knock it before it hits the street and proves itself, which I know it will. This thing is heads and tails quality wise above the Ruger .380, and KT .380. I will be one of the first in line to check this thing out in person, and probably purchase as well.

I've had a slide stop shatter while shooting a Kahr. A different one would jam (a common problem for Kahrs, just search around). I should have known better after reading so many horror stories online.

Nearly $700 for a gun with crap MIM parts? No thanks.

Meanwhile, the $250 Kel-Tec has been flawless.

I don't like Kahrs any longer. They go to a great extent to make some areas of the pistol so well, then totally drop the ball in other aspects.

They have no justification to do such a thing. Not for that kind of money.

Kahr is a joke compared to Sig or HK and they have nearly priced themselves with them.

Sig 239
HK P2000SK
Baby Glock

All derived from combat pistols. As slim as the Kahr? No. But they are way more reliable and have solid parts. If I need more concealable, there's the Kel-Tec or a S&W airlight J-frame that conceals in pockets very well and won't jam.

Some people have good luck with Kahrs. Good for them. I hope they continue to. If they took the K9 Elite and MK9 Elite and then replaced all the lame parts with true hardened steel and machined the chamber smoother instead of just giving a mirror finish feed ramp - I'd go back. I don't know why they can't offer real steel parts for that kind of money. Other brands do.

don't tread on me

feel ur pain, I would get far away from any gun that did what yours did, be they a kahr, sig, smith, or whatever. Thats why I won't own a kt anymore either, 17 times back for 3 of my kt's was 16 to many. My kahrs 2 of them have been flawless, so I am not on board with your issues, but I certainly understand. Read the same thing on glocks, when one gets burned on a gun, he normally burns it back. a normal thing. But we all know most glocks are great guns.
