Used to carry just one, but now I keep two handguns locked in a small safe which is bolted to the floorboard of the pickup:
1. Taurus 85 5-shot .38 spl snubbie, stainless, bobbed hammer, in pocket holster (really it's a belt slide holster, but doubles really well as a pocket holster also). This is for just in case I'm out & about somewhere and don't have my usual CCW rig on me for whatever reason, and feel I might need something going into X, Y, or Z establishment. Will double as the "girlfriend gun", due to its simplicity, in the event I need to yell "here, take this and start shooting!".
2. Full-sized handgun in case of that very rare (probably never) situation where I'm in need of more serious firepower: Taurus 24/7 OSS-DS, 5.25" bbl, .45 acp, extra mag. NO holster.
Both are corrosion resistant, and fairly inexpensive to replace, both requirements of pickup truck guns. I've gone through a variety of iterations of vehicle carry handguns, but I like this one enough that I will probably stick with it for good. Both have been tested for reliability in functioning with the carry ammo.
