I look forward to seeing them, I didn't think it could do it. Please include some details on what you had supporting the vest, distance, vest brand/label, etc.
Can do! It's an American Body Armor brand vest, IIIa (as stated), in a "The Uniform Carrier". Distance, support, etc., to be determined later at the range. I intend to be at least 10 yards but not much further as that's about the range I tested it at before. I will fire a few shots and take a photo after each shot.
Remember that it should be backed by something dense and relatively soft, like modelling clay, for full support under fire (you probably know this, but just making sure).
Sounds great, if you've got the cz52 too still it'd be neat to see a shot or two from it against the armor as well. I wouldn't expect either to be able to defeat 3a. Distance shouldn't be a big deal short of muzzle contact. Any idea what line of armor that is of that brand? It'd be neat to know if its kevlar, twaron, zylon, etc.
.22mag and .17hmr will also penetrate kevlar vests. Body perspiration/sweat causes kevlar to deteriorate/break down. Are the vests being used in penetration tests new, never worn vests?
I don't think that a specific gun will be targeted. I think that they
will go after private sales. I think that they will want every sale to
go through an FFl That way everything is on record. A new AWB
will limit the magazine capabilaties to the old 10 rounds and there
will be no sunset. Just my .02 Sorry didn't mean to get OT
If you want to know the next guns on the ban list take a look at the bills that are being proposed. HR 1022 is a pretty fringe proposal that I really don't see going anywhere. If it didn't gain traction after VT it won't now.
I think what we will see, if anything, will be a straightforward reauthorization of the old AWB, except maybe without a sunset.
