Holsters:
I've been shopping around and there isn't a lot of holsters specifically made for the CZ P-01 available yet in any retention level made from Nylon or Kydex. It's all fairly generic at this point. What have you found to be the proper fit and retention using generic or other fitted model holsters for this particular pistol?

Belt Setup URL Request:
This is for duty use in armed security. If possible I'd like to stick with an all Nylon setup for now. Can you recommend a good site aside from Uncle Mike's for all Nylon setups? (Belts, holster, cases, keepers) Kydex and leather seem abit pricey for my beginning duty budget. Once I start getting a paycheck, I'll look into those options.

BTW: I will look at ANY custom fit holsters for this pistol. :( God, they are so rare. :(

Thanks for your input.

Do a search for a guy named Eric Larson. He does holsters for the CZ pistols that are quite nice.

Sort of a similar style to the Milt Sparks IWB models.

Here are the best leather holsters that you'll find for the CZ line of handguns.

HBE Holsters

Once I find out which CZ product suits me best i'll be getting one.

I would say give Eric Larson a call about your CZ needs...best bet for the money is to buy a "set" at one time...Holster, mag. pouch and belt will prolly set ya back some money but it will be cheaper most of the time to get it all at once...

Love is the perfect drug

Zan, there are a lot of companies offering gear. What kinda stuff are you expecting to be issued? Radio, cuffs, baton, flashlight, mace, reloads?

For example, I really really like the Gould&Goodrich Phoenix Advantage line of holsters. Even the cheaper nylon version is seriously sexy all the while being built like a tank. It has done well in the armored environment here at work.

Do you need a sheath for a small flashlight or are you being issued a 24" Maglite?

If you carry a radio, you might consider one of the holders from www.maxpedition.com as they make some really great products. This is stuff that looks good and works wonderfully.

www.bianchi-intl.com is another source for good gear. Leave it up to the Italians to form gear with good lines and that works. Their Cobra Tactical is particularly neat.

If you stick to nylon, stay away from Uncle-Mike's. The only thing I've seen them produce that is decent is their Ultra Duty Belt (excellent product for a very reasonable price).

Thankfully, most nylon gear looks alike. You can buy a pouch from each maker and it won't look weird on the belt.

www.streichers.com is a good source, as is www.galls.com or www.qmuniforms.com (who have very good prices!)

I use a Don Hume TAC holster for my P-01 with the M3 light.

This is a Glock 19/23 holster.

An Uncle Mikes Pro 3 holster for the Glock just might fit.

I also like the Bianchi Accumold duty gear.

Zan,
The problem you have is CZ's are as popular as Sigs and the PO1 is new enough still that ALOT of stuff isnt out for it yet.

A couple of questions for you? What level of retention are you looking for?
Are you using a duty belt setup with 2 belts and keepers? What else are you using............Cuff, light, gizmo pouches?

I do all kinds of stuff for CZ's.......they are the reason I make holsters.
Check my site out...........www.hbeleatherworks.com .....If you dont see anything you like......Ill see what I can do to help or recommend you to someone.........

Shoot well...............

Now I have afew more resources to look at, thanks for the links. :)

It's not clear cut right now what level of defenses I'll be able to carry yet. The position isnt open yet for me to move into, but when it does and I know what I'm going to be able to carry, I'll post it.

But to answer the questions of VaughnT and PCRCCW:

The other armed guards are carrying a holster, a flashlight, (some carry cuffs and mace depending on the client) and reloads. We use cellphones as two way radios and no batons that Im aware of. The flashlights we are required to carry have to be 7" or longer and the recommended manufacturer by our supervisors are Maglite or Streamlight.

I'm not really sure what level of retention I'm looking for being that this is my first holster. I know I'd like a thumb break on the retention strap. But single, double or triple retention levels I'm still abit cloudy on. I probably should use a 2 belt setup.

BTW: I'm going down to a local police outfitter this week to get a better look at the options. But to be honest the holster is my worry.

I had a P01 and the Bianchi Accu mold stuff made for a Sig 229 will usually work with level 2 retention holsters. P01 is a great gun for security work. If you get a flashlight, get a streamlight, not a mag. I like mag light for house hold "chores" but a light is a weapon too, don't skimp. I did and regretted it...got a stinger the next day.

Check out your options and if you need holster help......I can do a level 2 for you. Thumbbreak/retention screw is typical.

If they require a level 2 then you may be in deep doo doo! :D

Have fun at the cop shop supply........I cant go in there anymore...I never have enough money.

Shoot well.

IIRC,the CZ P-01 is the same frame size as the CZ PCR. The P-01 has a light rail and the PCR doesn't. I use an Aker leather holster made for a SIG P-225 for my PCR and it fit's perfectly. You may find duty gear for the SIG P-225 that will fill your needs. Good luck.

Zan, remember that the rule is: one is none; two is one. That means you really need to have two of everything in case the primary breaks. The primary will only break at the worst possible time.

For the flashlight, a ring-hanger isn't hard to find and will look good regardless of your belt choice. I definitely like the streamlight over the maglite. You might even consider one of their rechargeable versions if you plan to work the light daily. (I believe the Surefire M3 Millenium is over 7")

Of course, you should also have a smaller light that can be used as a kubotan or gouge. I like the Surefire 6P. It's a bright light, but small and easy to wield with a gun.

Cuffs? Two pair located at 4:30 and 7:30 on the belt. You definitely don't want any pouches or metal blocks directly under your spine if you take a fall!

Reloads? Definitely want two magazines located on your weak side, preferably around 9:00. You might also consider a third or fourth magazine positioned so you can reach it with the strong hand if the weak hand is injured or pinned.

A back up gun is definitely a good idea. Think stag-handled stainless steel snubnose revolver for ubercoolness.

I've spent alil over $1100 right now. You mean I have to spend twice that? My wife is gunna kill me.

Can I wait until I get established in my position and ease it on to her? OMG, this means I'll have to perform extra duties in the evenings to get her not to think about the money.

I'm picking two Streamlights for both duty and tactical use without question. I like the rechargability and a nylon belt case is cheap. Having two cuff cases on the belt is abit much. How about a double cuff case instead? I've got two magazines right now with a double divided mag case, it's not an open case though. PLEASE give me some good ideals for a backup gun (make, model) and what type of holster and where I should place it on myself when on duty.

You've been a big help Vaughn

Much appreciated.

Couple of things...First, I have 2 of everything I use on duty. You eventually will too. Work day to day is HARD on equipment.

Second....don't buy cheapo stuff, you'll just wind up paying for it later. That being said I recommend a Kel Tec P11 9mm carried cross draw under your arm with a body armor holster under your uniform shirt. That away you can get to it even if flat on your back. That being said, people here will recommend Kahr, Sig239's Glock etc. I have looked at everything, and the best value I can find is a Kel Tec. I tried Kahr, didn't like it, Sig, bit the crap out of me, Glock too fat etc. I also recommend not getting anything less than 9mm. A BUG is what will allow you to see your kids again. Don't take that lightly. Remember that when you limit yourself to a 5 shot .38. The P11 has:

10+1 rounds

8.5 pound trigger, like a revolver

weighs about 20 oz. FULLY LOADED

a ton of mods and accessories for it.

The 2nd smallest 9mm I've ever seen.

Thick enough to feel good in the hands of a full grown man.

Only a little over $200.00, so you can buy 2. Which you might need if you are a sweaty person....you will need to strip it down and clean the fuzzies and sweat off about once a week. Not as necessary if you wear it on the outside of your body armor.

Uncle Mikes makes a good flesh colored body armor holster.

Good luck. Stay safe. Practice lots.
