I thought the purpose of personal defense is to stop the attack ASAP. It seems that you want to kill the attacker for daring to pick you as a target. Your premise is flawed in so many aspects as is shown in the posts above but if your main goal is to kill rather than stop then get yourself the biggest gun you can carry with the most lethal ammo you can find and dare anyone to attack you. Caliber is not relevant to you, killing someone is.

And this sounds like a religious argument which might best be answered by folks from WWII on the wrong end of all those 9x19 guns.

For SD I carry HP bullets.
If limited to FMJ, bigger diameter (40, 45) is better IMO.

I hate to say it but 9mm fanboys need to realize that over penetration will not only get other people killed but it may not do much to an attacker, 9mm JHP that isn't going to over penetrate is the key, 9mm FMJ....sucks...I hate to say it

Please rethink how you want to approach this, and your posting style in general, or if you want to do this at all.
