Very nice 'bird's head grip' there !! Could you share with us who did the work on your pistol, [the grips] ............Wow nice work !! ..........................I have a brand new NIB never fired 5 1/2 bbl, fixed sight blue ROA that I want to turn into a snuby with grips like that, but maybe a bit shorter, a true snub [belly gun] and perhaps 'parkerized' a dull green! All these new custom ROA's have been giving me ideas !!

I bought the grips off of ebay from someone selling off stuff from a gun store, They were made by the "Ajax Custom Grips" company. I think they stopped making them. I bought the grip frame from Midwayusa and fitted it myself.

Well that's too bad for me as Ajax Custom grips went out of business in 2009 and that outfit that supplied both Midway and Brownells with those 'birds head' grip frames in stainless, brass and unfinished plain steel has also gone kaput !! I guess your custom ROA's are now fine collectibles from the not too far past !! The only way to copy those pistols is a custom gunsmith and a bulging pocket of change ! Hold on to them !! Damn, the ROA will never die ! Keep 'em coming !

Ruger Old Army base pins

I'd be interested in a base pin latch, but I want a new style. Instead of a screwdriver slot I'd like the exact opposite, a raised ridge or small lever so that you could turn it by hand.

On ROA base pin latches : Why put a raised or cumbersome base pin latch at all . Try holstering an Old Army with one of those !! You'll rip your holster in two with that ! Just keep it simple and neat. Or make it look like a protrusion ! Not flaunting my idea here, just being practical. Check this out : Post no: 804 dated 6/15/2012, page 33. http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=538088&page=33 easy, simple, out of the way, strong, foldable with it's own 'spring' tension, and if need be, can be removed with only two little side holes on the original latch ! [why would you remove it anyway !]........ a lot of other ROA owners I have met, have made this mod and are quite happy with it and would not have it any other way. Give it a shot folks, simple is good !!......... best regards !!

ROA Grip Frame

Does a Vaquero bird's head grip frame fit an ROA? I saw one for trade but didn't want to bite if it wouldn't fit.
