The RUGER OLD ARMY Club

NoWin appears to have unofficially, the "Dragoon Model". It was made in the early years until 1975, I think.

It had the Super Blackhawk's grip frame, made in brass with a square-back trigger guard. It is also identified wth the Super Blackhawk's wide serrated blued trigger.

Fans will notice the trigger has the same configuration as the Stainless Ruger Old Army.

Rare to find as they only made them from 1972 till 1975, I think. Correct me if I am wrong. I have one of these myself that I have had since the mid-eighties.

I believe at one time Brownells offered replacement grip frames in brass and stainless(?) or aluminum.

Mr.D.Buck,the ROA nipples you sent me for my possibilities bag showed up here safe and sound.Thank you very much...Larry

Now that IS a shooter NoWin !! ...make sure you guys have grandchildren. Our ROA's will most surely outlast us all, and then some !! What a GUN !!

Thanks Sumikito....no kids, so no grandkids. My wife is also an active shooter, and when i'm gone I told her that a few of the neat guns like our Old Army, she can donate to our local Sportsmens Club for charity raffles. That way they shouldn't languish in a gun store or on some estate lawyers shelf never to be used again. (No offense to any good lawyers on the forum boards)

looking for base pin retaining pin

looking for a base pin retaining pin, to do a ClemBert mod on. Anyone know where to find these?

Steve

Just got home today and opened up the safe. Put on my white cotton gloves, and pulled out my 5 1/2 inch blued barreled fixed sight. Caressed it good, smelled it, looked into the bore well [you never know if an insect got in there and defecated while dying corroding the lands and grooves !!] and after a short chant, put it slowly back away. Now to put on another pair of gloves, and a sterile face mask, I gently remove my Original factory 5 1/2 inch blued model WITH original adjustable sights and lay it down onto a soft pillow. "How are you my friend. Sorry, I have not found you a twin brother yet". "It is ok to be all alone, I'm always here with you."..........I chant the secret Ruger creed, and very gently, put him away again. ........... Hold on to your nice pieces friends, but fire away those 'shooters' like hell !! ........... Ahh, that holy black smell. ..........like no other !!
Have you posted pics here of your original factory 5 1/2 inch blued model with original adjustable sights ? I'm intrigued by this rare rare rare version.

New to me and quite possibly new!

Bought this in possibly unfired condition last week on GB. SN dates it to 1977, almost as old as I am and most likely in better shape.

I prefer the flap holsters. Keeps the whole Revolver covered and out of the weather. Protects the grips too. I've got one for every Ruger I own...OCD I guess.....

Several years ago I saw a Bianchi ROA holster on ebay and won the bid...pretty expensive. About six months later I was visiting a hardware store/gun shop in rural Missouri, and found another in a "miscellaneous" box of leather at 1/3 the price I paid on ebay! So now I have two.

Love 'em!!

rockdc : On the base pin mod you wanted to do, try this simple method. It just might suit your fancy : go to post mo. 804 6/15/2012 ..........................................................And regarding information and pictures on the ultra rare 5 1/2 inch ROA with factory adjustable sights, see here : post numbers 1291, 1292, and 1293 posted on 3/20/2013 ............ Have yet to this day, not seen one, heard of one, in any forum, or for sale sections on Ebay or any big gun distributers/sellers anywhere !! And I follow them ALL !! I guess mine will continue to remain an orphan princess inside the safe !! ....best regards.

I,m pretty sure mines an early 80,s model , i did the research back when i got it but it does have the origional adj. sights, did i get lucky on that ?

Not sure how to start new thread..... But want some advice!!! Is it ok to interchange cylinders on R O A revolvers as long as others are factory R O A cylinders?

Reason is to bench load , have several shots and clean one gun and 3 cylinders. Lot faster than cleaning 3 guns.
