I think that you will find that rifle to shoot much more consistently if you lower the scope.

I like the EGW bases and I really like the Burris Signature Zee rings, but the combination together places the scope too high above the bore of the rifle and too high to get a consistent cheek weld shooting it. Combine that with the relatively unforgiving eyebox on the E4200 6-24x40 (still a nice scope, I have 2) and shooting it well becomes a pain. If you want to stick with the base, I would consider switching to low rings of some flavor. If you want to stick with the rings, the 2-pc Burris Weaver style bases make for a good combo with the medium height Sig Zee rings with that scope speaking from experience.

The reticle is a little busy....BUT...I'm not going to use this rifle for target shooting. I meant this as a hunting rifle. The scope comes with two charts. One for magnum calibers and the other for non-magnum rounds. If I zero 2" high at 100 yards, everything on the chart should fall into place.

First Rifle-

93R17 GV, Leupold PRW medium rings, Cabelas Pine Ridge .17 Tactical scope 3-12x40 SF, Caldwell XLA 9" - 13" bipod.
Just finished putting it all together, trying to find time to get it out to a 100yd range.

Last time I took the rifle I posted pics of earlier, shot that at 100yds. .675". 2nd group I shot with that load that day. The first was right at 1".

img0198lk.jpg

That was the very next group, fired at 300yds. 1.6". The wind starting getting squirrelly and gusting in the 25-30mph range right after that and I started getting bad horizontal stringing at 300. Still groups were in the 3" range.

I have a 12 LRP in .260 but since I posted the pics on another thread it won't let me post again.:banghead:

Ok, Ill bite ;)
This is my first Savage ...............Model 110 FCP HS Precision in 338 Lapua Magnum.
It's big and it's bad  But it's not just a pretty face.
The photos pretty much speak for themselves.
That is a Springfield Armory Gov't Model 6 x 20 x 56, 30mm tube, illuminated 2nd focal plain mil-dot reticle, objective lens parralax adjustment. I bought this scope new 10 years ago. It's no longer made. It was made in Japan and I believe the company was Hakko. They are out of business now. Springfield scopes in the past have received mixed reviews. This is my 3rd. All function perfectly with excellent glass and definitive precise adjusts at all points. It's built like a tank. I wondered if it would hold up to the pounding of the 338 LM. I have 100 rounds down the tube on the 338LM with this scope. The photos tell the tail.
Anyway, just wanted to make a few comments on the scope.
As for the Savage ..................... It's completely off the hook:D
I bought it new on sale for $1025 + shipping. Best buy on the planet.
The groups are off the bench @ 100 yrds with the best handloaded ammo in the world ................... mine;)
I realize these are optimum conditions but damn:eek:
One groups is a 3 shot and the deviation from center to center is like .050 in. :what:
the 5 shot group was my first shots of the day with a fouler and the 5th round I think I pulled a little. But there is also 3 shots in one hole .......... literally:scrutiny:
I had the opportunity to shoot a 110 BA 338 LM a few weeks ago. Very nice rifle .............. But the HS Precision is supperior in comfort of use and accuracy. Granted that's just 2 rifles out of at least hundreds but that was my impression. And the HS Precision cost half as much:confused:
Can't wait to take it out and do some 1000+yrd shooting this summer

I own a Savage 111 .30-06 and I love it! One click of the scope and I was hitting dead
center on the paper target I was using at 100 yards. I do need to upgrade the factory
optics but besides that, I have no complaints, it is a lot of rifle for a little money.
