^ What he said... in a registering state, a state ffl has to register the new # to you, as they know the procedure etc. In the other states, like Florida, there is no issue, hence, can be swapped out w/ no probs.

I wanted one of these pistols so bad when I heard they were coming out. But, since they have hit the street, I've only heard bad things about them. I owned three Kimber 1911's and sold them all. One was horribly unreliable. I was hoping Kimber would have spent a good amount of R&D on this and work on building a reputation of reliability and quality. Guess they're not in the gun business. It seems they're in the high-priced paperweight business.

I'm a Kimber fan and LOVE my two Kimbers!! I'd say, see how the replacement gun functions and go from there. I feel that Kimber is trying to correct a problem. I don't know of any manufacturer that hasn't had a few lemons that got shipped out. Even if it functions and assuming you don't like it, just sell it.
