The switch from the M9 to the PX4

So I just read a recent article from Guns and ammo on the switching that many police forces are undergoing to the PX4.

I have hardly heard of this pistol. How does it preform in comparison?

(I didn't read all the way through the article, so I am not sure if the US military is indeed switching to this new pistol.)

semi-automatic and available in fully-automatic (for LE and Military) double action pistol

9mm with 40sw and 45 acp available

14+1 cap.

barrel length is 4 in.

overall length is 7.55 in.

weight- 27.7 ounces

polymer grips with interchangeable backstraps

Sounds like an updated version of the M9 to me, but it's polymer and has a slide that covers the barrel.

What do you think about the switch?

It's more closely related to the beretta cougar than it is to the 92, it uses the same rotating barrel system. Also, the 9mm is 17+1.

I've had one in 9mm for about 3-4 years now and have never had a single malfunction. It might be a bit bulky for ccw, but I have been thoroughly impressed with it.

There is no FA or select fire version available to LEO that im aware of. Its biggest selling point is its rotating barrel. Ive shot my 92F and my buddies PX4 9mm side by side for comparison. The 92F weighs ~6oz heavier and using the same ammuntion, the PX4 has noticeably less recoil. Im a decent shot with my 92F but i outshot it with the PX4. At 10yds, off hand, it was punching clover leafs. My next pistol purchase will be a PX4 .45 special duty.

Beretta has never been big on marketing for some reason. But im noticing more and more adds in magazines advertising for it.

I don't think there's a full-auto PX4. But it'd be cool.
