Check this video clip out. While the editing is great and the soundtrack is phenom, pay attention to how fast the scenarios play out and how easily some of the participants are distracted so Tango2 can move in from behind.

The 21' rule is good, but it's predicated on the idea that you'll see and recognize the threat while it's a good distance off.

Personally, I just get a kick out of this vid and must have watched it a hundred times since I found it on another forum. It's an advert for the organization, but that doesn't mean we can't learn from it.

There are some good fighters. A great MMA group with grappling, judo, wrestling, and boxing. Unless you are actually training, I doubt you can aquire any skills by watching.

Dave, I wasn't suggesting that one could learn from watching that vid or a full-length movie, but that we should all take a gander to see just how fast these attackers are moving and how dynamic the scenarios are.

Personally, it provides an eye-opener b/c I don't think I could even come close to drawing my pistol under some of these circumstances. And, more importantly, there are several scenes where the forward BG is a diversion so the rearguard can come in for a blindside attack. How do you escape from a full nelson so you can access your pistol?

And, besides all that tactical stuff, the vid is just cool. I must have watched it a hundred times since I first found it. Love that soundtrack!

MMA?

MMA vs straight blast?
______________

What are you talking about here? is MMA just a variety of techniques pulled together? what is straight blast? how do these compare to Krav Maga? I live in the east bay area in No Cal, and am contemplating getting back into some sort of martial art, but don't know what. I used to teach Tae Kwon Do in the early 80's, but nothing since then. do any of these styles teach weapons such as staff and knives?

Thanks

VaughnT, no criticism meant. I train in this type of fighting. The way I look at it, a gun is just one tool in your arsenal. These type of fighting skills are just as necessary as you gun. No one always has there gun with them.
