Obama requested Secret Service? I think since Bobby Kennedy was assassinated, presidential candidates get Secret Service whether they request it or not.

IIRC Obama requested an SS detail after some possible threats from racist groups materialized.
In keeping with the proud traditions of Animal Farm it is A-OK for him to have a detail of gov't employees armed with semi and full-automatic weapons protect him while he works to strip us of the right to own a semi-automatic for self protection. He's better than us, dontcha know?

Not true. If you declare you are a candidate tomorrow, should SS agents show up the next day to protect you? There are too many and many of them don't have much of a chance. Last I heard, only two of the Democrats are getting SS protection. Obama requested it. Hillary already had it as a former First Lady.

This sort of proves that Obama is naive, and probably hired "progressives" within his cadre that are also naive. I don't think that Hillary, or her cadre, would have allowed a "warrant" suspect to get that close. It should have been up to HIS cadre to do the background check, NOT the Secret Service!
On the other hand, I'm still hoping for a small miracle! I WANT to see Obama as the Democrat Party nominee! Almost ALL of the Republican candidates would be able to chew him up and spit him out! Hillary, however, is one tough piece of gristle to deal with!

Thats interesting but I dont consider it to be relevant. We could start looking at the hypocrisy of all the candidates. I dont really see it as a similar issue compared to assault. Unpaid parking tickets are relatively common amongst people in larger urban areas.

Unpaid parking tickets are something I find funny, and will gladly get a chuckle out of.
That said, they hardly rise to the level of... say... "did-he-didn't-he" cocaine rumors that surround(ed) Dubya back in 1998. Or a certain Paula Jones that haunted Clinton.

So if Clinton was a criminal, and Bush was a criminal, then its ok for Obama to be one too??? Maybe we should just look for future presidents in prisons.
We really set our standards pretty low when it comes to leadership.
I understand your point that parking tickets are a relatively minor infraction. But I think the fact that he didn't pay them speaks to the larger problem that he does not have respect for the law. Just because his predecessors broke the law shouldn't give him a free pass.
Remember when you were in Kindergarten, and got in trouble for doing something that everyone else was doing? We all tried the "but everyone else was doing it too" defense.
It didnt work with your Kindergarten teacher, and it shouldnt work when you are running for president.

I like to say we know who the government (meaning the Democratic and Republican Party elite) wants us to vote for based upon who gets Secret Service protection.
I'd love to see a record of who got SS protection running for President. I bet only those who became President actually received it before they were elected. (Meaning while still in the Primaries. Once you win, you would obviously get such protection).
