Let su consider the oft-repeated claim that no one needs an AK-47 to go deer-hunting. Anti-gun people who make that claim think that the sub-text is "no one needs a weapon as powerful as the dreaded AK-47 to shoot a deer." The reason that gun-controllers throw out the hunter-with-AK is because it makes a funny visual. We imagine some guy out in the woods dressed up like a hunter chasing down Bambi with an AK. Haha, what a knee-slapper, boy he sure showed up those gun advocates as unreasonable and ludicrous.

The argument shows a misunderstanding of both hunting and the ballistics of an AK-47. The reason that one does not hunt deer with an AK-47 is not because it is oh-so-powerful, but because it's not powerful enough. You'd want a rifle such as a Winchester in a .308 in order to kill the deer with one shot. Hunting a deer with an AK (which typically shoots a 7.62x39 mm round) is not humane. In many states, it is illegal to hunt a deer with such a gun of such small caliber and limited fpe."

I liked the shotgun "hunter" that managed to fire 50 rounds in order to get ONE deer. Then he says how inhumane it would be to use buckshot. Now, im NOT a hunter but, it I always thought that you had to be reasonably assured of a kill-shot before you fired on an animal. These guys (assuming he really is a hunter and sadly i do believe it) are our real worste enemy. They are just lining up to be interviewed with long barrelled, wood furnatured, shotgun in hand saying how noone needs an AK. I wonder if he realizes that his PC 870 is going to get included in the next ban that includes those dreaded "assault (tactical) shotguns"

I doubt the liberals are starting to wake up in any meaningful sense. They are increasingly aware that their policies and positions are not looked upon favorably by the American public, but that will only mean that they'll act more conservative to attract voters.

Once elected, all that feined conservatism is out the door and we'll get more of the same, failed policies shoved down our throats.

I noticed on this morning's news that some Democrat wants to eliminate the "marriage penalty." Just an election ploy I'm sure.

I agree wholeheartedly with Jack 19 - they are just pandering to the public in order to get elected. Other than someone like Zell Miller (who is as ignored by the Dems as Ron Paul is by the Republicans) Dems/Libs don't mean a word of what they say when you hear "the 2nd Amendment protects an individual right to own firearms" or anything similar. It is all Barbara Streisand.

I believe that Wondernine is also correct - I can't see a legit DU'er (as opposed to Southern Dems, at least a decent portion of whom know lots about guns) knowing that much about guns, as most of them are such hoplophobes that they wouldn't even touch one, let alone learn enough about guns and ballistics to be able to speak intelligently about them. A few of them undoubtedly do own firearms, but their grandfather's old .22 probably sits in the attic, rusting away. They barely know what end of the gun they should point at the target.

I have 95 posts and counting. It is just a matter of time before I am banned. I pretty much stick to the gun forum, otherwise I would be banned instantly. I was tired of preaching to the quire, so I tried to spread sence to the forum, I have failed.

Those people hate everyone who isn't like them. Many posters talk about assaulting trucks, snowmobiles with rocks, support ELF, etc. They are convinced Gore won the election, but “republican voting machines rigged it." They also believe Bush was behind, or at least knew about 911, I hear that all the time.

Most of the people, who post regularly on the gun forum, are pro gun. They have to deal with a steady stream of idiots.

I'd think rather than talking sense to them, it'd be more fun to encourage and make the most preposterous assertions and suggestions to them.

E.g., George Bush wants to send gays and illegal immigrants to death camps in the Nevada desert outside Area 51, where they will use alien technology to kill them and dispose of the bodies so they can never be found.

Don't vote. Republicans have secret technology to mark and record your ballots. The Office of Information Awareness will process these. Progressives will be rounded up during the next Red Level threat and detained at Guantanamo (until they can send you to the death camp at Area 51).

Here's what I learned from browsing a few threads there for a minute:

1. ALL "gun people" get ALL of their information from the NRA. ALL of it.

2. Gun control isn't the same as disarmament.

3. "Gun control" does not mean "they" want to ban all guns. It is about "reasonable restrictions" and manufacturer responsibility.

Of course, the question begged by #3 is; "What the &^%$ do you call 20,000+ gun laws if not "reasonable restrictions???" "

However, I must say I am impressed by the volume of pro-gun people, and how civil they are.

You've got to be kidding! Who even goes out with 50 shells? Who goes out with 50 rounds of centerfire ammo on their person. Who could get off 50 rounds at one deer? Most I've seen bolt at the first click of a pump or reloading a semi.

some of the anti's are indeed gun owners and users. Diane Feinstien has a hard to get California concealed permit. She just objects to the "little people" having their own means of defense.

for the anti gun pols, I advocate a "truth in legislation clause". If they vote for any gun bans, then they should be barred from gun ownership and not be allowed to have armed security. Even if their measures don't make it into law, they shouldn't have guns or guards with guns.

And any that bitch about SUVs should be forced to drive Geo Metros. Practice what you preach.
