I got a pretty nice Christmas bonus this year and it has gotten me started about possible starting a suppressor project, as I have never had a supressed firearm. What I want is a suppressed .22 long rifle bolt gun, and I would prefer stainless steel. I do want something that is pretty accurate, and I plan on squirrel hunting with it. I plan on purchasing the rifle, and spending a few months setting it up, accurizing it, etc. I plan on finishing it off with a suppressor toward the end of summer, 2015. What are your suggestions. Would a CZ make a good candidate?

In a 16+" barrel you are going to need sub-sonic ammo to get the maximum benefit from a suppressor. Buy the rifle you really want and get the barrel threaded if necessary.

With shooting .22lr ease of cleaning the suppressor is IMHO the most important thing so I recommend the Silencerco Sparrow without reservation.

I had my CZ 455 22lr barrel cut to 16 inches and threaded for my sparrow. With the right sub's the package is light, quiet and very accurate. I actually use my built 10/22 with the sparrow for rabbit/squirrel hunting, but the CZ would work great too. I think you'll like suppressed hunting, it's nice not to have to worry about muzzle blast or ear pro.

I agree about getting a 22 suppressor you can break down easily. I've dipped my sparrow a couple times, and it's amazing to see how much lead gets deposited inside.

If by "finishing it off with a suppressor by the end of summer, 2015", you mean to have the suppressor in hand by then, you had better get cracking now. Wait times for NFA items are usually between 6-9 months.

Currently form 4's are in the 4 month neighborhood and improving. We may get back to 90 day paper form 4's soon.

Really??? If that's true, that's great news. I received my most recent suppressor in February of this year, so my info is dated. Hope it doesn't go back to those 6-9 month wait times ever again. That was absolutely miserable.

I just checked and Silencershop has most recent approvals for paper trusts at 114 days. That's 3 weeks faster than my eform approvals were a year ago. Good news as I have two stamps pending.

Always always always buy the suppressor before the firearm. Get the wait started (and before the proposed 41P in May) and then go looking for a host for it.

Why do you think something new is going to happen with 41p in may? Are there some recent rumors i'm missing?

CZ makes a 455 Tacticool model that comes from the factory with a 16" threaded barrel. Savage model FV-SR also comes with a factory barrel at 16" and threaded.
