I just requested the form to apply for my C&R. Anyone sent one in lately....and how long did it take to get?

Most of the shops around charge as much or more than the license fee to do 1 transfer so I'll get my money back in no time. I have an itch for a couple of C&R items. The only problem is going to be holding off until I get my license!

About six weeks is average.

You need to make sure you set up a dealer account at Midway and Brownells. A few other places will let you do that also, and you can get big discounts, particularly on high dollar items like optics. You will pay for your C&R very quickly that way.

DO IT!!! Took me about 3 weeks to get mine. Just got it about a month ago, I doubt the wait time has changed too much.

I got the application within two weeks but the license took a few months. I think it depends on your region for turn around time.

I just saw on their website that they are supposed to process it in 60 days. I feel like I've missed out on a bunch of good stuff since I'm getting into this so late in the game. I'll probably go with something inexpensive first like a CZ-82 or a Mosin Nagant 91/30 with a hex receiver...whichever is in the shortest supply first I guess....which I assume would be the CZ. This is going to make it reaaaalllll easy to spend money. :D

I got mine in 11 days. I was rather impressed.

Transfer costs here are $25. I've only bought one C&R gun thus far, two more very soon. It will have more than paid for itself.

The only thing I don't like about it is the bound book idea and the potential for an ATF inspection. I took a gamble on it (not that I've done anything illegal to begin with) because that $25 transfer really hurts me at this stage of my life. I won't have it forever and when I can afford the $25 I am going to get rid of the license. I'm just glad I'm not required to maintain the records or turn them over when I do so.

If you are a serious collector, this is a no-brainer. It took about three weeks from the start of the process to get the license in my neck of the woods. Have to say that it's far more expensive than the initial fee, however. Everytime a SOG flyer or CDNN catalog hits the mailbox, the first thing I find myself doing is checking out the C&R-eligible guns on their list. Not that this is a bad thing, mind you. :)
