Thinking of trading out XD45 for CZ97

Cz97b

I bought mine used so it was broken in but not abused. I shoot it mostly one handed, so I guess the grip size and trigger reach are not a problem. I can even shoot it using both hands and have shot it with my weak hand. The thing is very accurate and reliable.

I haven't tried HP rounds in it and I don't care if I never do. It shoots ball ammo fine and eats all the 185 and 200 gr LSWC that I feed it.

I think it is a good design and a well made pistol. However, your mileage may vary.

My 97 has become one of my personal favorites. I've got approximately 5,300 rounds through this one and it's very smooth. It's outfitted with a CZ Custom Shop Competition (CS) hammer, CS sights, Hogue grips, and a custom machined/fitted 1911 barrel bushing. Firing pin spring, extractor spring, and hammer spring are the originals (recoil spring is a Wolf). Nothing has ever malfunctioned or broken; I've run it 1,000 rounds w/o cleaning. Nothing I own can outshoot it for accuracy

Nice gun.

I say go for it. If you actually liked the XD45, you wouldn't be asking yourself this question.

The 97 are noted for being very accurate (even more than regular CZs). 1.5" to 2" groups at 25 yards are the norm.

The triggers are standard CZ triggers. They smooth out with a little use. I don't find the DA any worse than most SIGs. You can carry it cocked and locked just like a 1911 if you like.

They did have problems with hollow points early one. Supposedly CZ revised the feed ramps (similar to what SIG did with the P6/225).

As much as I generally like CZs, the EAA Witness Elite Match is the gun the CZ97 should have been. They take the same magazines, but the Witness grip is much smaller, the CZ97 is about a blocky as a Glock 21 to me, the XD45 is about the same as the lLite Match in term if grip girth.

The XD45 is probably my second favorite polymer 45 (behind the Kimber BP), but the Elite Match has a much better trigger out of the box and I'm always better with single action guns.

kanewpadle,

Thanx, I appreciate that.

Wally makes a good point on the Witness pistols. In many ways the Witness is better, but keep in mind the OP already has one. The burning question is trading the XD for the CZ. These are 2 completely different guns, each having virtues.

That's a tough decision.

I like CZs alot...but would not get rid of my XD45 for one.

That said...I am not saying not to get the CZ...they are very good guns. Just save and buy it then you will have both.

I have both the CZ and XD both are great guns. The CZ is more accurate but both are very well built guns.Just matter of personal preference.
