While the defeat of the background check bill in the U.S Senate was a big victory in the overall defense of our right to keep and bear arms, opponents to the 2nd amendment have made it clear that they do not intend to back down, but are instead waiting for the opportune moment to re-introduce this toxic legislation that would deprive law abiding Americans of their constitutionally guaranteed, and do nothing to protect the victims of gun violence.

I implore you to contact your representatives in Washington and let them know that you do not support any new gun laws, and that you are counting on them to protect your 2nd amendment rights.

Also, I would again like to remind you to donate as much as your personal situation permits to the NRA-ILA to help support our 2nd amendment rights. The NRA is the most effective weapon we have against those who would take our freedom away without a second thought. Even if you do not agree with all the decisions made by the NRA, you must stop and realize that they are the best ally we have in this fight, and that every dollar you can muster in support of their cause will be a dollar well spent.

While donations and membership fees that you pay directly to the NRA are important, they CANNOT be used to lobby congress directly. Monies donated to the NRA-ILA directly are most effective in defeating legislation that would hinder our right to keep and bear arms.

Also, write to your lawmakers using this link:

I greatly appreciate your time, and effort to defend our 2nd amendment rights.

Unfortunately, I believe this fight will never be over. It's a sad day when our elected government are so busy trying to unravel the very set of principles they were elected to uphold, they let the rest of the country go to hell in a handbasket. And have still yet to actually come up with a solution to violence that might actually work.

Well said. We can't go back to completely doing nothing. Everyone here needs to remember how close we came to losing our Rights and keep active in protecting them. Obviously we all can't be doing this 24/7 but there are things we can do like checking on the forums for new Bills that we might support/oppose or setting up direct withdrawl to the NRA-ILA.

I'm joining the NRA to help protect myself and other Americans. They're a major organization that is working hard to protect you. If you're a gun owner then now is the time to stand up and be heard.

How can you make yourself heard? Join the NRA and their massive numbers of members to fight for your rights. I am not yet a member of the NRA but believe strongly in the constitution and what it represents. If you agree with only part of the NRA's ideas, it is time to join. They're the largest and most powerful gun rights group in the country. Maybe if England had the same support then they wouldn't have lost the fight for freedom.

Support the NRA

I upgraded my life membership to the next level. The NRA called with a solicitation to upgrade. They had an offer that was hard to beat. I took some money I had been saving for a gun purchase and upgraded. I figured it would do more good than buying a new gun now. :)

Also, look out your back window. They have failed at the national level, but are still going strong and gaining ground at the state level.
