I don't expect that it was received by open minds. Surely her testimony was ignored. Just like nobody listened to what Robert Steed had to say to the Connecticut legislature. Our elected class believes it is their duty to herd the cattle in the right direction.

What she said was awesome and needs to be said everyday, in every city, and in every state.

I totally agree.

That woman was very well spoken and straight to the point! I applaud her. However, in the grand scheme of things, her opinion will not matter to those proposing the new laws.

Our "elected class" needs to get hit with cattle stampedes from every direction, like the gigantic herds of bison that used to roam the plains when Whitey stormed ashore in 1492. Our "elected class" needs to be stomped by the cattle in a most painful manner.

It's obvious that you and I bear a welt that hasn't quite healed just yet. Our elected class ignored our vocal speech. Hopefully our voting speech will send them back to where they came.

That's pretty much what happened in Connecticut too. Tons of people went to protest outside the capitol and give passionate speeches to the state legislature about how their idea for a law wouldn't change a thing and would endanger far more people than it would save.

What did they do? They passed their little bill, and the news media showed them hugging and crying one another about their success at passing such an idiotic, broadly-sweeping piece of legislation.

I can't get mad at state legislators any more. At least I currently have the opportunity to move a few thousand miles away from all of my friends and get out from under these jerks' claws.

It's the national idiots that I'm concerned about.

God bless her. I am surprised seeing something like this in New Jersey. Maybe there's some hope for our northern compatriots.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of American citizens who do not share her point of view -- who DO believe that it is government's job to protect them, to defend them, and to make laws to take care of them.

Those people vote, too.

Our real problem is that we are not raising and socializing Americans who believe in personal responsibility. Those citizens who don't believe in personal responsibility vote for people who pledge to take care of them. When those representatives are elected, they do what they were elected to do.

While it is easy to hate the government and the elected representatives, we have to realize that the enemy is US -- those who have collectively elected those representatives.

Until we can ensure that the average citizen is responsible for their actions and interested in being self-determining, this woman's opinion will remain unheard and our elected officials will continue to nanny us as we have asked them to.

Spot on correct.

We elect our representatives based on what we believe they will do, which is based at least in part on what they say they will do. They lie. They recant. They break their oaths. They make excuses.

And we fail to hold them accountable. We even reelect them. That's the real problem.

The probably quickly check their list of fat cat contributors, noted she wasn't on the list and didn't listen to a damn thing she said.
