This one right here is really puzzling.

Savage has a new version of their "police" series bolt action, the 10FP, that comes with a built in muzzle brake. It is available in .308 and .223. I can kind of see the .308, but a muzzle brake on a .223? Not in the same league as on a .22, but still seems highly unnecessary.

Muzzle brakes on varmint rifles serve a purpose too. The allow the shooter to see the bullets impact through the scope. After all what fun is it to use fragile varmint bullets on rodents if you don't get to see them explode at high magnification

You fellows have it all wrong!! That is not a muzzle brake... It is a reverse silencer. After years of blasting away their hearing with Ipods the youth of America need help hearing if their 22 has fired or not.
Mossberg wants you to know they are the first firearm manufacturer to address this growing problem......

WOW... I'll have to agree with this one...!!! ROFLMAO...hehehe

You guys apparently fail to see the practical use for this...this...thing...think of all the precious little girlie boy shoulders that wont be horribly disfigured by the horrendous recoil of the 22LR.

I bet the gas blowing out of that thing would cut steel.....

...also... it could be a mowing scythe...

I saw that and thought it was ridiculous to.

What's scary is the fact that the dude in the mall ninja post was issued a Concealed Weapon Permit and is probably slithering around, fully armed and ready to 'Blast' the first individual that looks at him sideways.

...now, back on course....

I had him with me at a gunshow and heard him ask the knife vendor if a particular knife was combat-ready.

Yeah, well the first time your out squirrel hunting and one of the little buggers gets a go at your eyes you'll wish you had a combat ready knife.

That muzzle brake would be at home on a .50 BMG. What's the point? .22s already have (almost) no recoil, the gun just looks stupid.

Wow, I have seen some ridiculous c*ap in my day, but this one sort of takes the cake. That think looks like it belongs on a bolt action .50 BMG, not a .22lr.

What a waste of money, time, effort, materials and weight... All in the name of marketing towards those who buy into such things!

Hmmm... I've shot some AR-15's with brakes on them, and they do make for a quicker follow-up shot in a competitive (or I suppose CQB) type situation. I still agree that I don't see the point on a bolt gun in .223. Nevertheless, I've never been inclined to stick a compensator on my work rifle either (an AR-15), simply because I don't want to be even more deaf if I ever have to fire that thing indoors while working! Those compensated AR-15's are LOUD!!!

man i am so glad that you posted that pic of that freakin gun i am in such a good mood after reading this. told my buddy (he has the version where the forend of the stock folds down so that you have another pistol grip or some crap) that they made an upgrade to his rifle.

I nearly died laughing! That was awesome, but for the love of all that's holy - Gecko45 HAD to be somebody with a weird sense of humor. Does anybody know if it was a joke or some poor deluded soul?

I never thought about it just being a marketing gimick, very sad if it actually works. I'm glad someone finally explained the term "mall ninja." I've been meaning to ask.

Looks like ole Gecko might be working on the Mossberg design staff. Anyone that knows what a 22lr is has to be confused by that "brake".

i read the mall ninjas thing, biggest load of BS ive ever heard, if a mall security gaurd ever choked out my kid for shop lifting, i would put my foot so far up his ass he could chew my toe nails, but that was just hilarious, thanks for posting it

Any rifle with a muzzle brake that I have ever fired had an increased noise level. If this is the case, then I submit that this is really a subversive attempt by (a mole planted in Mossberg) PITA. After the first shot, all the other poor lil' critters will head for the hills. They are willing to sacrifice one for the good of the masses. Possibly hoping that you, that horrid murdering barbarous thing might, just might miss.
