I don't think I want one with a mag extension like the 85360 because I don't think I trust mag "extensions".

But this one the 85320 seems to have a mag that holds four rounds.

The specs on this one the 85330 seem to be telling me the mag holds five. (?)

Mossberg's specs here.

Anyone know if the non-extended mags really have four in some non-extended mag versions... and five in another?

Anyone have a 930 that wants to offer an opinion on if these are up the usual standards of Mossberg reliability? (I like Mossberg).

Sorry for the picky and kinda convoluted query... I just figured if anyone knew, they might be on THR.

Thanks,
Les

Mossbergs specs are a bit conviluted they both will hold 5 technicaly basicly 4 in the mag tube and one in the chamber i hate there stat pages because the 590 is rediculous to get a good detail on because there 590 special purpose is a 9 shot but the 590a1 is listed as 8 (both are 8+1 in the chamber)

while i'm a huge fan of the Mossberg pump shotguns over the Remington 870...i think it's comtemp bred of familiarity...i think a better way to go than a 930 would be the FN SLP.

i handled both before deciding on the SLP. it just felt more solid. the only thing i miss would be the Mossberg tang safety...it it's much nicer than the 870/11-87s'

Hey hey, 9mmepiphany, I don't know anything about FN, but that looks good. I have four Mossberg pumps, and like 'em, but I'm no expert.

What's the current street-price on the FN SLP? Are they available? Or "sold-out everywhere" these days... ?

Thanks,
Les

Thanks. I went today to look at this HD 930: http://www.mossberg.com/images/Mossberg_Guns/930/NEW/85320.jpg at a local but well-stocked mom-'n'-pop that I like. I could have bought it for $425+ tax, but was underwhelmed with the fit and finish for some reason, so I left it there.

I really don't need or especially want a tactical or police-looking gun, or special sights for this particular one. I just want to replace an old (but pretty blued/wood) Armscor pump that I keep in a garage in a (double-wall, round-"drink-machine"-keyed) metal storage-cabinet that I keep there for quick-access. Since I'm OK with 4-in-the-mag and six on-a-buttcuff capacity, how stupid an idea would it be to buy one of the two Remington 1100s that I know of in a local pawnshop for $279, and saw the barrel off? I've got a basic machine-shop, and some metal-working skill, but I'm no gunsmith. Is installing a bead-sight a big deal in a plain-barrel? Even maybe basic rifle sights?

Honestly, I can't remember if those 1100's had vented ribs, but even if they did, cutting just forward of whichever rib-support passes the 18" line and installing a bead seems like possibly a solution for my purpose in this case. As I said, this is not going to be a primary-weapon or a brag-piece... Is such a chop-job a wrong-headed line of reasoning?

Thanks,
Les

i love chop jobs just me i think they look mean'r just me though a good ol' model 12 chopped to 18 inch looks bad ace or 1897 whatever a solid shotgun is great to have around
