Thought process of anti-gun people (long)

These people can't trust themselves to be responsible enough with a gun. They think that it would be more likely that they would screw up and injure or kill someone than they would use it to successfully defend themselves.

That's what they say. I don't believe them. I think they're just afraid guns somehow have magic powers over people.

Leftism would be nowhere without ignorance and fear.

Never played America's Army...crosshairs turn me off. Infiltration is the only FPS for me. =)

Some people seem to be ok with some guns, but some just seem to apply a horrible evil to others.
I remember a long and dull argument with a few people on another forum, they didn't have a problem with an AR-10/15, but agreed that there was just NO reason to own an AK-47...weird.

lwsimon: If I ever have to use a gun in self-defense, I hope to GOD the creep is an avid gamer and has never been to a range.
I dunno... somehow having someone's last words be a spluttered "#@^$* camper!" just seems sad to me. :(

Imagine that on their tombstone--

To tie into what an earlier poster put forward, I thought there was a disconnect for Lard Butt, er, I mean, Michael Moore. On one hand he babbles on about how easy it is to get guns in the US, and how this makes us such a violent society. On the other hand, he blathers on about how gun owners are paranoid and that there really isn't as much crime in the US as gun owners think there is. According to him, the crime problem gets over sensationalized by the media because if it bleeds it leads. According to him, gun owners are too stupid to realize this, and that they don't really need guns to protect themselves.

Well then, which is it Mr. Lard Butt, er, ah, Michael Moore?

Leftism would be nowhere without ignorance and fear.

As would “rightism.â€

Nevertheless, anti-freedom movements are indeed fueled by ignorance and fear, at least among the common people, though desire for power is usually what motivates the leadership of said movements.

The anti's are not just spewing out random vitriol. They have top-notch psychologists and advertising people to carefully craft and deliver their message at those who are most likely to believe it. It's subliminally inserted into almost every TV show for example. It's no wonder that so many are kneejerk against guns, but don't know why.

The RKBA organizations so far have had nothing to match that.
