Thoughts on Armscor/STI 1911's?

I've heard some good things and the one I've held and inspected seemed very tight in fitment, with a heavy and glitchy trigger, but reasonably built. I know STI has a good rep, but I also know how many "seconds" of Armscor recievers I've had to try and make into rifles...

Does STI do a final inspection/QC here before shipping them to their distributors? How many user reports, good or bad have surfaced on the boards? Just curious...

The STI spartan is assembled by Armscor, and sent to STI for inspection and approval before STI sells them.
The Spartan is an AMAZING pistol for the price... if you are not looking for a carry gun.
The rear sight was rough on me for carry.

It would be. And rough on the hands doing immediate action drills, as well. All my IWB's have a sweat guard/sight guard flap between my flab and the sure to rust parts of the pistol. Doesn't stop the rust, but does slow down the wear on me!
