For those who may not know, you can actually choose the THR color scheme to your own personal preference, I know there are lots of people on here that aren't super tech savvy and view the site through its default format when they signed up and never thought twice about it, which I think was (earth tones), when I started off here years ago I had no clue that you could choose a color scheme and for some, the brighter tones may be straining on the eyes. It was only by chance that I noticed at the bottom of my screen that you can actually select a color preference....

It's as easy as scrolling down to the bottom of the screen and selecting 1 of 4 color schemes. This isn't new with the update, It's been available for a good while but I think this could be helpful to many whose eyes may become strained from prolonged periods and brighter colors on their screens, I doubt if many THR members regularly visit the Site Maintenance sub forums and don't even know that these options exist...

Here are some samples for your maximum viewing pleasure:

I don’t mind the color but now I get random words capitalized, the ends cut off of others. Can no longer select Text (see what I mean :)) to cut, it’s wants to select it all, with the slightest movement. Probably my device but it worked before the change.

Every remedy has its side effects and incompatibilities. Every software package has its counterintuitive twists and "features". We are working through them to try to make them work as well as possible, but correcting one thing often disrupts other things.

Thank you for your input and your patience as we feel our way through this new terrain. Changes in our electronic environment moved the software update from optional to mandatory, and although "seamless" sounds good, it is more aspirational than actual.

the color matter to me, I use high contrast. But I wish there was a color difference in the threads I have read vs. Still waiting to read: one is darker blue, other is light blue. My eyes are getting bad

I personally have used the Black Responsive (Green) for the last few years and like it, after the update it automatically went to the new UI. X (child) and I didn't mind it but I went back to the Black Responsive Green. It's what I'm used to and its easy on the eyes, i often browse threads before bed and dont want bright tones lighting up the room when my 9 month old starts stirring in her crib because she can hone right in and see Daddy' Awake!!!! Yaaaaaay!!!!😆.

There are some pretty cool changes since the new update, but I liked the old format just fine. I hate change, but it's kind of like wallpaper, eventually your eye just gets used to seeing a thing and it becomes part of life.......

I like the Earth Tones and can live with it; we all did for years...

I have been using the UI. X (Child) lately. It's a nice contrast for me.

[EDIT: Removed unreasonable quibble. And they're all decent styles. Thanks for providing them, THR.]

I don't know how I didn't notice until now but the number of pages a thread is going isn't displayed on your mobile device unless you turn your phone 90° (portrait view for android, probably called something else for iPhone). Just thought that might be helpful for people who are used to seeing page count on their smartphone.

Turning your phone 90° will also enable you to see other people's sig lines and how much their content is liked, which is also new since before the update you could see everybody's information out of portrait view..... The update looks nice, but I think I liked the old format better. Shucky darn....

And another nice feature from the update is you can choose your reaction instead of only being able to "like" someone's post you can choose from 1 of 5 reactions which is helpful, it never sat right with me liking a post when someone has just described a heartbreaking loss of a loved one or something similar, but also wanting to acknowledge their post....

I am afraid to touch any of the settings ... in the past , when I try to make something better ... it just goes away and I never see that site again .
I will leave well enough alone ... my computer skills are about those of a Sweet Potato .
I wish I had grown up with computers ... they look so cool but I'm clueless as to how to operate them .
My cumputer doesn't have operating instructions and computer isn't in my DNA .
I can design and draw construction plans for residential and commercial buildings but I can't change how my screen looks ... I can see/read the screen so I best not monkey with settings !

You can, with absolute confidence, flip through the different color scheme preferences without any fear of not being able to go back to where you started. There are only 4 options for color.

For those that say when they try to change the color setting and get weird changes like parts of the page and text being cut off, etc...., I wonder if it's because you're on a mobile device and perhaps you are on desktop view mode..... if so, just click on the 3 little dots in the upper right hand corner and take it off desktop view.

It's because I have no idea what I'm doing ... randomly pressing buttons get's me in a lot of hot water .
I've been instructed to leave the computer alone ... but my wife and daughter have gone shopping and I'm without adult supervision ... the Cat is telling me to press them buttons and see what happens !

Even as dumb as I am about computers and tablets I can do it so you should also be able to Just scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and look in the lower left hand corner to see what screen you have. Click on it and it will show the options. Try each until you find the one that works best for you ad you are done. I chose earth tones as that gives me a full screen making the print slightly larger.
