Joining Colt Club

I would like to join the Colt Club. I have attached a picture of my 1851 Navy Colt with the Richards-Mason Conversion. Please let me know if I did this right. Does anyone know of a Colt Club in Denver?

Beldohr;

If you have a "photobucket" account just go to the picture you want to post, select "IMG code" and paste it to your post.
BTW welcome to the Colt Club of Holy Black. Enjoy

Hello friends and neighbors // I'd like to join.
I have one Colt 1851 produced in 1861 and one reproduction 1861 Pietta.

The Colt still has great timming and a good bore but the lock up is a little too loose for me to shoot it.

There a certainly some impressive examples in this thread of Colts to be on the look out for.
Real and repro.

My entry for concideration:

From top clockwise:
Colts 2nd generation "C" series 1851 Navies .36 caliber (NIB)
Pietta 1861 Sheriff Model 3" bbl, .44 caliber
ASM 1849 Baby Dragoon .31 caliber
Pietta 1851 w/xtra bbl, .44 caliber
Unk 1851 3" bbl, .44 caliber
Pietta 1860 Army, .44 caliber
Uberti 1849 Baby Dragoon, .31 caliber
Uberti 1861 Navy Sheriff, .36 caliber
ASM 1850 2nd Dragoon, .44 caliber

Some people shouldn't be ALLOWED to join...because they make you feel bad!
Remember what your second grade teacher used to say about cupcakes...."You can't have any unless you bring enough for the whole class!"
I think that applies here....:D

Colt Gun clubs

I asked this already but did not see any replies. Does anyone here know of a Colt club in the Denver area where they actually shoot?

AFAIK there aren't any "shooting clubs" just for Colts. But there are black powder shooting organizations with local clubs and chapters that have shooting ranges and organized activities.
Among them are the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Organization with clubs in Colorado:

There are also cowboy action shooting clubs that encompass much more than simply shooting Colt percussion revolvers:

Single Action Shooting Society (SASS):

And the National Congress of Old West Shootists (NCOWS):

There are also many regular NRA affiliated and unaffiliated private shooting clubs that have members that shoot black powder guns that you can seek out in your area.
The National Shooting Sports Foundation is an excellent resource for locating private shooting clubs & ranges. There's a whole page of them listed for Colorado and it also lists the Denver Muzzle Loading Club with their contact info.:
Denver Muzzleloading Gun Club
1710 Hopkins Dr
Denver, CO 80229

Facility Details
• Private
• Outdoor
• Gun/Sportsman's Club

Access To Facility
• Members Only

For the full NSSF list of other Colorado shooting ranges:

http://www.wheretoshoot.org/find_range/wts_subresults.asp

To locate shooting ranges in the US & Canada:

Even though the above provide a lot of options, there are many more shooting clubs that aren't on the NSSF list. Local gun shops can often provide tips about the existence of local shooting clubs by either asking their owner or customers.

2nd Generation Colt Grant/Lee matched pair cased set

Just took posession of the latest addition to my 2nd Generation Colt Blackpowder collection. One of 250 Grant/Lee matched pair cased set of 2nd Generation 1851 Navies. Had a gentleman email me offering the set for sale cause he knew I was a collector. He was the original owner and had never put the set together. Everything was still in it's original wrapping and boxes. He only took the pistols out from time to time to oil them up. They've never been cocked, and the flask had never been unwrapped. The pistols and accessories had never been put in the case (till yesterday). I unwrapped everything, placed the items in the case, photographed the case, then rewrapped and boxed everything back up. This set will stay as NIB as possible.

Here are a few pictures:

I remember seeing a set of those when they first came out. They were very inexpensive by today's standards. I just couldn't afford inexpensive then...

Beautiful pair.
