THR Gun Information is Wrong!

Steve - Funny thing... I was just thinking about this very topic the other day. With two rapidly growing young sons of my own, I started thinking about who would get what when I'm gone.

Then I realized that they wouldn't want some old used-up antique. I mean, heck, the shotgun that got me started is already on its THIRD generation in my family. It's even older than my kids' grandmothers. Nope, they want... no, they DESERVE... something new. Something modern. Something sleek and hip... not some battered relic (like dad).

Next time there's a police trade in, I suppose I should at least try to get some money for the old junk I've accumulated and start saving up for something halfway decent.

I don't know how I'll get my wife to give up the S&W Model 15, but I'm sure I can convince her somehow. After all, it's for the children and all.

Remember Glock Perfection.

If you can have perfection why waste your time on anything 50 or even 100:what: years old.

Save the headache and money and buy the perfect pistol first.

LNIB, Trap grade SX1 ...and...a 26" factory skeet bbl.
Yep, I was standing right there. Highly figured wood is SOOooo outdated. Poor kid made a mistake.

Although, I must admit (and don't tell sm I said this, he won't notice, being all 'old' and all he can't read this) that newfangled "Cynergy" is really a pretty nice shotgun.

Yeah well I just happen to keep not only a credit card sized magnification card (that one I used at Tulsa) I also keep a pair of $1 reading glasses handy to use with my bifocals when the lenses take a break and need some help...usually my bifocals do that on phone book print, or any tiny print...so yeah, I read it Larry.

Tips :

-move finger away from off of dash number when using additional reading aids, they do not read through fingers...in case you were wondering...

-do not look directly into blue sapphire light emitted from Inova key ring light, before inspecting a bore, cylinders and such...

-Vendors not only appreciate being given a ride to the show [We sure appreciated the fast route] they also appreciate being given a disposable key ring light [Eveready]and pipe cleaners to inspect bores and such on Milsurps they deal in as they "snap fingers - I forgot mine at the hotel" en route.

I also gave a few more white pipe cleaners to vendors in the show...

I mean this vendor and others were trying to get stuff out of the publics hands too...

ONLY BUY :

New guns, of new manufacture. One gets a warranty, some even for life.
_____________

Thanks to THR I've learned that Rugers don't have a written warranty. I need to get rid of mine, and I certainly won't buy any more now that I know about the lack of a written warranty.

:scrutiny: <= pic of me at a gun show squinting at guns

It's only worthwhile if it is in a recent movie or video game.

I mean, it was sad... I was out at a restaurant the other day, wearing a t-shirt with a 1911 on it... Some kid says he has one. We talk for a couple of minutes, and it turns out it is a "virtual" 1911 that he's gotten up to on a video game...

Sheesh.

Opinions and rumors keep this forum afloat. If you roam other gun forums all are the same. At my age, I believe @ 50% of what is posted here or elsewhere. After awhile you know who is knowledgable and who blows smoke. Just my "opinion".

OHMYGOSH Does this mean my M1903 A# Springfield, my 1940 something N04MkI Enfield and my M44 Mosin my NMA Remington, (I know the blueing is gone but it is about 140 something years old need to go?)

Yikes What to do with old iron and wood!!

Chuck:neener:

What to do? They ask...

Gee, have you folks not read the regional disposal centers members are setting up in this thread?

Okay, can you folks keep a secret? <looks over shoulders>

SAK has one with a USB flashdrive.

What you did is to put into practice the Strategy & Tactics learned here on THR by putting Pictures, date of birth codes, and other pertinent information in regard to OLDer guns on these.

I know this ain't rocket science, still talk about being stealthy and all...upstages wheelbarrows, and ninja rolls though...gives the perception of being nerdy and all...

<finger to lips> Mums the word...

Somebody pick Larry, Sandy, SmokeRizen, and Chris up off the floor...

Must buy Glock....Must buy Glock.....Must buy Glock.....Must buy Glock......1911s are crap.....Must buy Glock......Must buy Glock....... :neener:

Lorcin and Raven

We saw New and Used Glocks.

We did not see any NEW or Used Lorcin or Ravens - so deductive reasoning means...

THE guns to have are the Lorcin and Ravens.

Hey, I took Psych in college...never took a Econ class, still look how many Lorcin, and Ravens one can get NEW for what you pay for one old wood and blue crappy gun.

This is satire. Right?

Don't ask me, I just posted the original thread. :scrutiny: :D

Yeah well, say and think what you will...still when - Legislative-Critter-Season hits, Staff, Mods and Members are going to thank me for this thread.

Why it may even get brought back up and out of archives and posted first off by a Staff or Mod. Betcha...:p

I am glad I was able to do my part for the cause. Last week I removed a pristine model 10 from circulation to make a polymer pistol presentation place.

Next time I go fishing I will take it on the boat in case we capsise in mid lake. That will get rid of it for sure! Wow, I never felt so a part of the new wave before. ;)

It's a dirty job...

...but somebody has to do it. All right, since nobody else wants to do it, I'll sign on as the Northwest Region disposal guy. All y'all up here can send you're worn-out, obsolete, POS blue-steel-and-walnut relics to me. (sigh)

A gun-nut's job is never done.

Shame on y'all. Glocks are so passe'. Get with it, at LEAST buy an H&K polywonder, if not an XD.

And what is everyone maundering about all those SXS, OU, or manually operated repeaters for- not to MENTION those old fashioned single shot shotguns? Synthetic stocks just aren't enough by themselves, don't you know that everybody who is anybody shoots a carbon fiber polystocked SEMIAUTO?

And rifles, come ON. EVERYONE knows no rifle worthy of the name is made in America any more, you HAVE to get something newly designed AND IMPORTED if you are going to be hip.

Geez, get with the PROGRAM here, people...

I guess if you really need another disposal center, I could take care of the Great Lakes region.

I have been taking a few out of circulation on my own, but I do consider myself to be a team player, and I will even pay for shipping.:D poppy

Well, I had an extensive collection I was going to give away, but since they are bad guns, I decided to just dispose of them.

Thanks for preventing me from making that mistake.

perception - Just to make it perfectly clear... not all guns are bad -- only the old ones. New guns are totally fine. As long as that pile only contains pre-2K stuff, you're fine. Otherwise, if you were wrecking new stuff, you'd just be wasting money.
